Jahlil Okafor fights man in Boston (video)
By Dan Feldman
Nov 26, 2015, 3:33 PM EST
The 76ers lost a heartbreaker to the Celtics last night, dropping Philadelphia to 0-16.
Jahlil Okafor was apparently in a foul mood after the game.
TMZ:
We’re told everyone got up and fled the scene and no arrests were made.
We’re told the altercation began because one of the men in the other group yelled at Jahlil, “The 76ers suck.”
We spoke with a rep for Jahlil who tells us … Okafor says he was being heckled from the moment he left the club and felt threatened because people swarmed him on the street.
This video obviously doesn’t show everything, but it certainly makes Okafor look like the aggressor.
Okafor will probably face punishment from some combination of the legal system, NBA and 76ers.

Nothing good happens at 2 AM for a 19 year old kid that just happens to be a 7 foot player on one of the worst teams in the history of the NBA.
Stay outta de clubs young man.

Jahlil Okafor's apparent street fight is more proof of 76ers' flawed rebuilding plan
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jahlil-okafor-s-apparent-street-fight-is-more-proof-of-76ers--flawed-rebuilding-plan-232000319.html
On Thursday, TMZ Sports released footage of Okafor in an apparent altercation Wednesday night with a heckler outside of a club in Boston, where his team lost its 16th straight game to start the season. Okafor, the third pick of last June's draft, is apparently spotted shouting an obscenity ("We got money, you broke [expletives]"), shoving the man into a car and eventually punching him to the ground while holding back another man.

Re: Jahlil Okafor fights man in Boston
Absolutely my first question when I first heard about this on Thursday morning was "Where the heck were the 76ers?". Second thought was "Do any of the NBA teams have a policy related to their players being out in public (especially when visiting another team's city)?"
It makes no sense to me for any NBA team (although many may do the same as the 76ers appeared to do) to not have ALL of their young guys (especially their teenage young guys) escorted (body guard) when on free time at night in any of the NBA's cities. Serious injury (even career threatening) is always right around the corner, and never mind the public reaction to stupid press coverages must all be considered.
For whatever hiring body guards may cost a team, the cost would seem to be very minimal when you think of what could happen to one of their players. The body guard would likely be able to guide the player from certain places and then away from escalating situations.
Of course, one may say that a team should not have to pay for such protection. I could agree in some cases because guys like Okafor already earn enough to pay for their own security, but if I were the NBA team I would make sure that my younger (and perhaps dumber?) players had such assistance.
Definitely not a smart move by Okafor the other night, but also just a poor strategy by the 76ers, in this case. I hope that the Celtics are much more proactive in this type of situation.

Re: Jahlil Okafor fights man in Boston
It makes no difference what City these players are in, home or away, if they want to go out, they will go out. These guys are warned when they come into the league about bars, clubs, etc. They just want to be normal, everyday people, but they are not. Once you get into a bar at 2:00 in the morning, you are fair game. Everyone has too much under their belt, many not knowing how to keep their mouths shut. Some of them are proud of themselves for heckling players from opposing teams, they should be punished too.
The 76er's should have a policy in place for these YOUNG guys, they do not even belong in a club at their age.
Anyone remember Paul Pierce? He was lucky to survive his stabbing and learned his lesson well. Hopefully Okafor will too.

Rosalie sums it up well.
The police said they don't plan to pursue this any further, that there was nothing criminal or aggressive in nature on Okafor's part. Taunted by some loudmouths, and in a personally threatening situation he should not have gotten into from the start.
No real news here. Just a lesson for a young player who has never been in any kind of trouble before, and hopefully will not be again.
