Do Celtics fans like this trade? Empty Do Celtics fans like this trade?

Boston gets:
Andrew Bynum
Gilbert Arenas
Jordan Farmar
Washington's 2010 1st round pick this year (pick #5 as of right now)
LA's 2011 1st round pick

LA gets:
Rajon Rondo
Rasheed Wallace

Washington gets:
Kevin Garnett

This trade would dramatically help all teams and matching up the salaries works.

Hi,
I thought that trade deadline is on Feb 18 not on March 18?
Also, what're gun possession laws in Boston?
And the last question: can we keep Rondo?

Very Happy

We'd have two centers, Bynum and Perk, but no PFs. KG and Sheed would be gone.

Perk's defense is good, but is enhanced by KG's presence. Bynum's defense has never impressed me. For how big he is he shouldn't be getting pushed around by Howard and Shaq. Perk does a better job fighting them.

Laker fans would like this because it fixes their point guard problem. They could start Gasol at center and Odom at PF and have Sheed come off the bench. So, their frontcourt doesn't suffer too much at all and their backcourt gets a SIGNIFICANT upgrade. Also, Sheed's contract is more palatable than Bynum's.

Boston also gets a gun-toting ME-baller and an underachieving backup point guard. I haven't been following who's who in the college draft, but is there a PF in the lottery that will fill KG's shoes? Even at this point in his career? We also have to take Bynum AND Arenas' BIG longterm contracts. LA's 1st round pick is worth little since it'll be somewhere northward of 26th or 27th at least.

Washington's better by getting KG for a year or two (which will be too long for them to play in the big free agent market coming up this offseason) and losing Arenas?

Boston's better by gutting our PFs and picking up a ME-baller and a player with a history of injuries and a struggling backup point guard and taking chances with pingpong balls for a #5?

It seems to me the team that wins with this trade here is LA. Their backcourt is the worst in the league. Having Rondo as a starter is a vast upgrade, they'll be able to still have a solid frontcourt and they can replace Farmar with a number of low-priced veterans or journeymen.

Thanks but no thanks for me.

bob,

Washington gets out from 4 years and $80m from Arenas.
They have to take on 2 years and $40m from Garnett but they will save $40m.

Arenas is an excellent point guard that will average 20+ per game.Boston gets Bynum who is only 22 and they get out from Rasheed's contract.
Farmar is a decent back up.
The #5 pick could land them Boston a very good PF.

LA loses Farmar, Bynum who is only 22, a 1st round pick and has to take on Rasheed's bloated contract.

We don't need a point that gets 20!

Reject this one easily!!

I guess you will be happier keeping Rasheed and Garnett and having no top draft picks.
Say hello to 43 wins next year and 37 the year after.

No we would be happier if you left the ridiculous, baseless, illogical, pick 4 names off the top of your head, after the trade deadline so they cant happen ANYWAY trade ideas over on BDC.

Gilbert will be back next year with a very toned down attitude.

The man has bills to pay.

tj,

1. I don't consider Farmar to be a decent backup and we already have Nate, so getting Farmar has no value to us.

2. Bynum's only 22 and has had multiple knee surgeries. His work ethic is questionable.

3. Rasheed's "bloated contract" is for the same amount as Artest's and for fewer years.

4. IMO, Arenas is NOT an excellent point guard. Arenas is a 28-year old ME-baller who has played a total of 47 games in 3 seasons. His season is over this year because of bad conduct and the 15 games he played in the two previous years were shortened to injuries. Rondo is a 24-year old all-star with no history of injuries. He's 4th in the league in assists/game and #1 in steals. Arenas was only averaging 5.6 assists/game this season. That is NOT what you expect from an "excellent point guard". That's what you expect from a ME-baller who plays point. His fg% this season, btw, is an execrable 41%. Rondo's fg% this year is almost 52%. Arenas's assist-to-turnover ratio is 1.68. That is BAD for a starting point guard. BAD. So, not only isn't he getting his teammates involved more by passing, he's not even doing a particularly good job of taking care of the ball. Rondo's assist-to-turnover ratio is 3.23. By comparison, rookie Stephen Curry's assist-turnover ratio is 1.83, Russell Westbrook of OKC's is 2.4 and Aaron Brooks of Houston's is 1.86. Hell, even Jordan Farmar (the guy you describe as a "decent backup point guard"), his assist-to-turnover ratio is better than Arenas's at 1.78. So, as far as doing the job of point guard, Arenas isn't even as good as the Lakers' backup point guard, whom you say is slow and is only decent.

Arenas doesn't assist a lot, he shoots at a very low percentage and he turns the ball over, but he scores a lot. That's why he scores 20+ a game, he's the one taking the shots and not his teammates. The problem is, shooting is not the primary job of a point guard. Running the offense and getting your teammates good shots are. That's not an excellent point guard, that's a ME-baller who takes a lot of shots.

Once again, I say thanks but no thanks. If he's such an excellent point guard, why don't you take him? If salary dump is all Washington is looking for, trade them the bottom half of your bench. Phil doesn't hardly use them anyway. Let him fight over who touches the ball with Bryant.

bob,

1-You don't have Nate. He is a free agent after this year.
2-Bynum is very healthy and his knee injuries were freak accidents.
3-Would LA trade Artest for Rasheed? No way. Rasheed is already the 7th oldest player in the NBA and they have to pay him for 2 more years. He is a cancer to any team and is out of shape.
4-Arenas is an excellent point guard that has a career average of almost 23 per game.

LA doesn't have enough "bench" players signed for next year to make an Arenas trade work. All of their guards and Morrison can be or are free agents this summer.

He is really a point "blank range" guard.

It is like calling Eddie a point guard.

He is an awesome "catch and shoot" guy but point guard was more out of necessity than out of want Razz
