Mr. Herky-Jerky Anyone? Empty Mr. Herky-Jerky Anyone?

Post by bobheckler Wed Jul 20, 2016 9:46 pm

Jordan Crawford is in Detroit trying out as a free agent.  I'll be the first one to admit that watching him play for us made me speak with a stutter, but he turned out to be a more than acceptable point guard (we were, at that time, a horrible team and he was the starter but that wasn't his fault. He was just the best we had at the time) and he is a lights out shooter.

We need a shooter and he would kiss the parquet floor for a chance to play in the NBA again after China and D-league. He could come in when we need offense and he could even let IT and/or Rozier play off the ball because of his adequate ball handling. He is a better ball handler than either Bradley or Smart. He could also hit cutters, back then, so Brown would fit well with him. 15mpg.

Whaddya think?  He'd be truckloads cheaper than JR Smith and he's the next best shooter left, I think?

If there is nothing to the Danny L.A. vacation/scouting/whaling/(fishing?) trip JJ Redick possibility then I wouldn't mind bringing Crawford back. Having an extra ballhandler who can also shoot could make up for the loss of Turner. Sign me up BobH.

I'd rather play Rozier, Smart, Jaylen Brown, or Kelly Olynyk at PG rather than give minutes or a valuable roster spot to Jordan Crawford.

I enjoyed him when he was here, and he was better than Rondo, but that's not saying much.

Arambone,

He's a back court shooter. None of the players you named is that.

Hes not a better ball handler than Smart, I don't remember him being a great shooter, volume shooter maybe.

I would rather sign Nader to a roster spot.  I think developing someone new would be better for us long term than bringing in a marginal known player short term.

Nothing particularly against Johnny Crawford, I actually would rather bring back his father. clown

if Danny is looking that route, I would suggest Dion Waiters.

same shooter, still young enough that he may have upside.

realistically pass on all of them though, we need a big man with size.

Dion Waiters sucks, he helped blow that series vs GS, he cannot shoot or score at all, has one good game and 5 bad games, he makes Jeff Green look consistent.

Gyso, I'm with you.

Arambone, you're right about Crawford vs. Rondo as a shooter 4 years ago, but maybe not now. In all other aspects of their games, Rondo is a much better PG. I still wish him well, although playing alongside two ball hogs might be hell for him in Chitown.

I'd consider him if Danny was able to pull off some sort of 2 for 1 that gave us a much needed center and a guard slot opened up.

Stevens brought out the best in Crawford, he even admitted it when he got traded. Brad like him as a player, I am sure sometimes he drove him nuts but don't most of them?

I knew what you meant Gyso! I even laughed. Johnny Crawford was the Rifleman's (Chuch Conners) son !!!! I really got it.

Chuck Connors was the first NBA player to break a backboard - did so as a Celtics rookie.

Shooting a free throw, I believe, but not with a rifle.
