Join our Game On! Contest!!

Guess how many points it will take to win this game.

In other words, estimate how many points the LOSING team will score, add 1 to that number, and submit the result.

The winning contest figure must be higher than the losing team's score.

Post your entry on this thread before the Fourth quarter begins.

We'll be running this contest on almost every Game On! thread this season. And I'll keep track of how many "wins" each poster accumulates over time.

• One prize for most "wins" by Christmas Day

First Round Winner!!:  cheers

(7) BobC

Followed by:

(6 1/2) Rosalie
(3 1/2) gyso
(1) NYCelt

• One prize for most "wins" between Christmas Day and All-Star day

Second Round Winner!!:  cheers

(15) BobC

Followed by:

(5) gyso
(1) Dboss
(1) Berlin
(1) Rosalie

• One prize for most "wins" between All-Star day and season's end

Wins so far:

(1,000,005) BobC  affraid
(1) Rosalie
(2) gyso

• One prize for most "wins" during the playoffs
• One prize for most "wins" over the entire season (including the playoffs)

I'll be looking forward to your entries.

Remember, post your entry on this thread before the Fourth quarter begins.

Good luck!!!!

Go Celtics!!!

gyso

PS: I will try to keep track of the Contest tonight.  If I cannot, I'll sort it out later.

PPS: I pick 103 as the points required to win the game.

Celtics-Bulls preview: C's look to bounce back, add to Bulls' struggles

http://www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/boston-celtics-chicago-bulls-preview-cs-look-bounce-back-add-bulls-struggles

BOSTON – After a couple of tough road losses last week, Isaiah Thomas made a comment about how the Celtics “can’t be experimenting in Game 63.”

It was a not-so-veiled shot at an ineffective lineup used by head coach Brad Stevens that factored into the team losing to the Los Angeles Clippers.

So how did Thomas and Stevens handle it?

Thomas reached out to Stevens in a lengthy text message afterwards, explaining himself and his frustration. Stevens listened, made his thoughts on the matter clear and from there, they moved on.

That’s how it’s supposed to work between a star player and their coach.

And that’s why Boston has been able to have those agree-to-disagree moments at times this season and it not get in the way of winning.

The Chicago Bulls have not been as fortunate.

Boston will try and do its part to add to the Bulls’ struggles when they host them this afternoon in a nationally televised matchup.

Today’s game will be the first between these two since the NBA trade deadline passed.

While the Celtics stood pat, the Bulls sent veteran big man Taj Gibson, (inconsistent) sharpshooter Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick to Oklahoma City in exchange for Cameron Payne, Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow.

Although Boston has lost two of the three meetings with the Bulls this season, Chicago appears to be a weaker team on multiple fronts following the trade.
Getting rid of Gibson takes away an above-average rebounder who has given the Celtics fits in the past. And McDermott simply being such a 3-point shooting threat whenever he’s on the floor, makes defending the Bulls and their desire for better floor spacing not quite as daunting.

But Payne provides an additional ball-handler who hasn’t shot the ball particularly well as a pro, but shows promise that he can be an adequate guard in this league.

Regardless of what Chicago’s lineup looks like, the Bulls still have Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade, two All-Stars who have the ability to take over a game at any given moment.

Although ex-Celtic Rajon Rondo has been ineffective for the most part this season with Chicago, he still has the talent to take over games at times and as Celtics fans know, Rondo has been seemingly at his best in nationally televised games which makes him a player of concern for Boston.

But the Celtics have been able to hold their own and find success over most of the teams they’ve faced this season with a weaker record. They’ve done it with a number of players having career seasons which includes two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas.

However, success of the past doesn’t do a thing for a team’s chances of winning in the moment.

That’s why the Celtics (41-25) know that despite their impressive record compared to the Bulls (31-34), they are in no position to feel as though showing up alone would be enough for them to compete let alone win.

“If we play bad, we get beat,” Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said following the Nuggets loss on Friday. “It doesn’t matter who. That’s the way it goes. We have to play well to have a chance to win. Our margin is not what other team’s margin is. We can’t be inconsistent in that.”

Good evening everyone.
I won't be posting much but will be watching the game. After my second cataract operation on March 24th I hope I'll be able to see the keyboard as before. Right now I still have a little double vision due to difference in eye strength.
Go Celtics!

Bradley with a great chase down block but a smart assist by Crowder who slowed him down enough to allow the block.

I agree, and the future is bright as he supposedly is a hard worker and is a very smart kid. But do you think he is ready to play meaningful minutes in a playoff series against the Raptors, Wizards or Cavs?

I'm not sure on that one, it seems like he still needs to think a little bit before he does some things on the court, whereas in another year or two he won't. Will be interesting to see regardless.
