Here are the leading contenders, pick one. If you want someone else pick 'Other' but specify who.

Scott Brooks.

I take him over D'Antoni because Houston was better than they appeared last year and nobody has done more with less than Brooks.  He's taken a roster of malcontents and inconsistent players to near the top of the conference.

Brad Stevens has done an excellent job developing players and juggling matchups.  I would bet he gets the award at least once in the future.

I saw someone, I think it was either on a NESN or ESPN broadcast, say they should just give the award to Gregg Popovich every year.  A humorous and good point!  I agree.

I picked Spoelstra...I think Miami should be nowhere near the playoffs this year to be honest.

Stevens should have won it last year.

The fact that we are somehow in first place with a roster of so many non 2 way players, and Stevens has had to really coach a very young team, we rarely blow teams out, always a 5-6 point win. He has to cover up IT and KO on defense, Smart on offense, Al, Rozier, Crowder, AB, Jaylen, KO all so inconsistent offensively, but can bring it some nights, most nights we hope. We might be the weakest rebounding team ever to finish first in EC. Bottomline this team is no way near done rebuilding and were in first....????

Although I'll stick with Brooks because I think his roster is a total mess, Cowens has an awfully good argument in favor of Stevens.

I picked D'Antoni.
Houston is one of the most dangerous teams in the league because of the offense D'Antoni has them playing.
Houston is 2nd in points scored and 3rd in point differential.
Houston's 4 best players are all sub par defensive players.
Harden, Gordon, L. Williams and R. Anderson all struggle in some ways defensively.
If you gave D'Antoni an Avery Bradley, Crowder or Smart on defense, that would have made his life much easier this season.
I think D'Antoni will win for the 2nd time and I would be surprised if the voting was close.

With the starting lineup Washington has, they should be a 50 win team.
Beal and Wall are an amazing backcourt, who each average over 23ppg.
Morris, Porter and Gortat are all solid NBA starters.

Well said. What Stevens has done with this team is nothing short of remarkable. Washington may not have performed well last year, bit there is a lot of talent on that team. Hence, it may be more accurate to say that the previous coach sucked rather than to say the current coach is a genius. Stevens might be a genius...

Last year Stevens received just 5 1st place votes out of 130 voters.
His time will probably come at some point.

Spoelstra but only if they win tonight and The Bulls lose. No playoffs = No coach of the year. The easy pick is our own Brad Stevens.

considering what Stevens has accomplished with so many young players with no professional or little professional experience, I voted for him. He gets so much out of these guys it is amazing.

Imagine if Doc were still coaching the Celtics? Matty would be back to his old name from pre-2007-08 season!!!!!

TJ,

But the team chemistry and attitudes are often reported as a total disaster. Last year's fiasco set the tone for this bunch. Inconsistent play and effort were killers all last season, but Brooks has turned it around with the same roster. Except for Porter, I'm not sure I'd swap any of the other 4 starters for what the C's have now. Too much baggage.
