We couldn't find a worst opponent at this Stage. I got a bad feeling on this one.

I got a great feeling about this one.

This Celtics team is very dangerous on both sides of the floor. Hoping for the best though.

This is harder game than the Clippers or Warrior games. Similary to Spurs.

We just got to make sure IT is sitting due to a blow out by the 3rd and we're good. (Obviously we'd have to be the ones blowing them out.) I don't want to see him in the 4th quarter at all.

Nevertheless, the Spanish Unicorn will have his hands full tonight trying to contain The Pizza Guy.

I haven't watched a whole lot of Boston With a good coach and just generally solid personnel I expected them to be a top four/five in the East, but how is Thomas scoring so many points? Not that he’s a bad player or anything, but 29 per seems surprising.

Ricky and Dunn will slow Thomas down tonight Hopefully Horford will NOT slow Towns down

I could see some Rubio Dunn line-ups tonight. Dunn harassing Thomas while Rubio capably defends Avery Bradley.

The key will be if Dunn can guard Thomas without rapidly fouling out.

Answer: Most likely not

You need to exploit Thomas on the opposite end of the floor in the pick and roll. If Dunn were in the game with Rubio then Boston would be able to hide Thomas on Dunn. I would expect Boston to hide Thomas on Brandon Rush when they can, and I would expect Thibs to adjust by playing Shabazz instead of Rush.

Thomas is basically the only above-average creator on the team, so they run all their offense through him. He’s responded by doing what he’s always done – be incredibly crafty around the hoop, draw fouls, break defenses down off the dribble, and shoot well – only in a much higher volume than ever. He’s really, really good.

Even his biggest haters still like him. They understand that he provides positive value by helping his team’s offense more than he hurts the defense. The line is something like "Thomas is very good BUT his defense disqualifies him from MVP discussion"

Thomas rocks I do not think the Celtics would be better with a lesser creator who is better defensively. They really need a that kind of scoring hub. However, I do think they’d be better with Butler and trading Thomas for something else because Butler and Thomas wouldn’t co-exist

How's about adding Gordon Hayward and Markelle Fultz in the offseason Celts got it made in the shade.

Hayward is interesting I want to say he and Thomas would co-exist better than Butler and Thomas, but hard to know exactly till you see it.   You take Fultz and don’t think twice about it, the fit will be bad, but hopefully you can message it enough until Fultz is really ready to take over and contribute to winning so you can trade Thomas. But even if the fit is a team-killer, I will still take Fultz and just move Thomas. Fultz basically can be a bigger and more athletic version of what Thomas does

Maybe the reason they wouldn't give up a ton of assets for George or Butler was because they are confident they can get Hayward. Hayward > Butler/George – assets.

I think it's way more likely that Ainge is just over enamored with his assets and nothing would ever be good enough to pry them away.

Another option is that the picks are just that good. Why go all in now when you have a shot at Fultz?

I think they made the right choice The ability to get a shot at a generational superstar his whole career, while not having to bottom out….is once in a lifetime. PG and JB are good, but it’s not a given they’d be better than Cleveland still, let alone GSW/SAS/HOU (Washington).

The point is less about Fultz specifically And more that they don’t necessarily have to be used to get a superstar in his prime, especially in a year when, no matter what move they could have made, they still weren’t going to be better than the top three teams. If Brown becomes a star, and they can get a star in one of the next two drafts, what’s the rush?

Because their best opportunity was now and there’s a whole lot of of "ifs" for them to be good down the road. Plus they will lose pieces along the way, since they can’t resign everybody.

I strongly disagree that their best opportunity was now.The beauty of waiting is that, yes, there are a lot of ifs, but there are a lot of other potential opportunities as well, and only a few of them have to go right for it to be the right move. Maybe Westbrook becomes available for the same price. Maybe you can lure Durant or Curry away in free agency if they lose in the finals. Maybe the Pelicans experiment doesn’t work out and they decide to blow it all the way up by trading Cousins and Davis. You never know if you can do better than George or Butler.  (MY NOTE:  Probably the best most sophisticated comments from the other side ever)

They have a history though of specifically not consolidating assets, and overvaluing what they have.

Ainge also has a history of going all in and winning the title that year. He’s earned the benefit of the doubt.

History? The last time Boston had a lot of young talent and picks they turned them into KG, Shuttlesworth, and Terry

This would a huge, huge win if we can steal it Boston gets underrated because their starters have missed a lot of games over the season. Boston is by far the second best team in the East when they’re healthy. Their regular starting lineup of Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, Horford, and Amir Johnson has a .741 winning percentage. And they’re all healthy. And they’re playing at home. And they’ve got playoff seeding on the line.

yep it's gonna be a good one I’m rooting for them come playoff time. If only they had more Crowders then I would be an even bigger fan.

Celtics are a weird match up for us. Obviously Crowder can do a decent job on Wiggins as he is so much stronger. I would like to see Bazz get a lot of minutes because that will create mismatches with Bradley and Smart having to guard a much bigger player (although they are both pit bulls and probably won’t get abused).

I think we match up well with Boston. Rubio’s good at containing opposing PGs like Thomas, and they don’t have a lot of other big offensive threats. And as you note, they can’t contain Towns, plus their rebounding is so bad that rebounding is a major advantage. The main thing they have on us is wing defense, which, we’ve shown we can win with a sub-par Wiggins game recently.

Horford is probably the key He’s really really important to their success. He’s such a good passer.

The Wolves need to get the same home court advantage as the Nuggettes by elevating Target Center 6,000 feet above sea level.

it’s weird feeling confident on game day. Not so much confident in a win—the Celtics are good—but confident they can compete with one of the top teams in the east on the road.

Do not like these Boston jerseys And also the wolves black sleeves.

Were they just trying to hide IT on Dieng?

He's small enough He can hide in unexpected places

Refs out to get us tonight. One bad call after another.

This is going to be a long night if they keep swallowing the whistle

I might rescind my no blaming the refs rule when Ed effin Malloy is involved

2 on clam crowder

The race for 1st seed in the East draws more viewers than the race for the 8th seed in the West. Refs act accordingly.

Boston is making their shots, give them credit.

I worry about Boston in the playoffs. I'm not sure their team is suited to go far in the post season, then again I guess it depends on matchups.

I wonder if Kings fans ever get pissed about letting Thomas go. I never hear about it.

Playoffs will be interesting, he's good but his size will always be a concern on defense. Have to give Stevens a lot of credit for how this team plays, maybe coach of the year.

Is Isiah getting clean looks, is Rubio playing decent defense on him atleast?

KAT out early instead of Dieng, should get some quality time against whatever plumlee the Celtics have. (MY NOTE:  Every team has a Designated Plumlee)

The reffing in this game is baffling.

Refs bailed out Rozier...

Ricky's defense As much as he’s shining on offense, Isaiah and Bradley are under his boot!

This horford chap is pretty good

Dominicans don’t jump for 3 pointers.

Smart looks so much better without his Guy Fieri hairdo.

Bradley is really hounding Rubio, we need Wiggins to help initiate some offense

Where was this team all year?

I miss those times when the 12th player of the team earned his salary waving the towel enthusiastically Anytime the camera let us take a glimpse of Jordan Hill I hate him a little bit more.

Thomas is like a smaller version of James Harden...

Boston announcer threaten to kill a referee

That screen on Rubio for an IT 3 a couple of minutes ago, was not only illegal in basketball terms, in at least 40 countries they send you to jail for that

The only way the Celtics have any success is if they are allowed to be ridiculously physical

Except for them being really good at defense and offense And having really good depth. But outside of that you have a good point.

They also have a top level coach and GM And no bad contracts. And they have a good chance at making it to the finals if Cleveland has another injury. But other than that, yeah they are trash.

We scored 60 points on them in the first half and they could only stop us when they were allowed to be really physical they’re trash

There is a 0% chance they go to the finals The Wizards are far superior

a more interesting bet is if the Celtics make it out of the first round As, despite this theoretical great front office, great coach and great talent, they have yet to do that in this iteration of the Celtics

Who will they play?

Hopefully someone worse than last year's Hawks

Do you want them to make it to the 2nd round?

Only if it's Washington so we can have a funeral series

They can't be serious with MVP chants. He's not even MVP of the conference.

He's a lovable underdog I get it. I’m impressed by the loudness of the Boston crowd, it’s a mid week game against a non rival and/or playoff team in a game that really has no meaning for them. Good for them.

All it takes is 60 years of success and 15 championships.

17

Thibs laughing Effing frightening Also, he might think that playing Biston in St Patricks week is the best, as they should all be drunk.

Bjelica out of game with left ankle injury!

Soft He still has another ankle to play. That’s why mother nature gave us 2

Nice half. I'm worried about Thomas, though. 19 at the half and you know he's going to have a big fourth quarter. He's so quick and crafty

Thomas is just so quick and talented

He's like a filthy richs man's JJ Barea

We have to find way to punish I.Thomas in defense. He can't go entire match without being tested against taller players. He is guarding B.Rush. Also can't let him get easy points with FTs.

Thibs isn't good at adjustments.

These refs are trash

We all know how this works in Boston.

Tough to beat the Celtics and the refs together...

The officiating is atrocious. They mug and hold us, no call. We barely touch them.....BS.

Boston's offense catching fire.

Can't tell if we are playing dumb or just getting bad calls. Prolly both.

In the Was blog they were complaining about Towns elbowing on Monday Where are the refs from again?

I believe that these refs were trained at the Bill Belechick Sports Integrity Academy...

Somebody check the ball air pressure And the real distance floor – rim Also, anybodu, just jail Brady

WATCHING A BOSTON CELTICS HOME GAME IS BOTH A STRANGE AND DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE.

Crowder another trash player.

Those corner threes are killing us.

Surprised they didn't call a foul on KAT for falling on Thomas...

If your 3pt specialist misses two open corner threes in a row and the rival center makes one as a trailer in the next play It’s hard to be optimist about a game.

YOU CALL THAT CHARGE?

I actually thought that was the right call. Smart was set

I fail to understand how we are supposed to exert any physicality in this game if it's going to be reffed like this

He way is being officiated, I would be thinking about betting for them in the first round of playoffs

I just don't understand what we're supposed to do Wiggins gets mugged going to the hole – no foul Olynyk routine post up – foul

These refs appear to owe us a lot of calls.

We are gonna need them. 4th Q is where the teams are supposed to get physical I don’t know if they can get more physical without punching us in the face

Theyre good no doubt

Celtics making everything...refs trash.

Home court advantage is one thing, this is just blatantly skewing the game by the refs

Wow we miss the open threes and they make the contested ones.

I blame the refs for the next 9 shots

When the f*** did Avery Bradley learn to shoot? He’s been deadly tonight

And a legit run of very good defense and hot shooting by the Celtics will blur the refs' blame But we would not forget. This game was rigged.

Celts ain't losing at home during St. Paddy's week. Refs were just the Celts’ lovely little lepreCAN’TCALLALEGITGAMEs

Celtics got lots of help from the officials to thoroughly put the Wolves in the corner with overt physicality and it was curtains from there, 2 guys get hurt, wiggins looks broken and exhausted (although he has been looking broken prior to this game too) and I guess I always hate losing to this team ever since McHale let his old buddy Danny Ainge fleece him for our franchise nearly a decade ago.

Wiggins sucks again . Sigh.

Defense did not have it tonight. Boston has also been red hot shooting it.

Welp, Boston can't miss. Also, just not enough talent.

How many illegal screens they had? Warriors level in this game. We haven't enough refs respect to compete against the contenders.

that sucked, I hate Boston

There are 3 known NBA fans in the entire country. The other 2 are (of course) Celtics fans. I’ll have to pay them a couple of pints tomorrow, apart from getting texts all day asking for the result of the match. Wolves haven’t won in Boston since when? They are costing me a fortune

Starting next season, the Wolves put a hurting on the C’s for years to come so you can recover some of your losses and your friends will keep you hydrated for a change!

I hope you are right But Wolves are gonna Wolves. I see them winning it all except the annual trip to Boston

Yeah that Boston trip could continue to be a problem Especially with their home court officiating.

that was pretty much worst case scenario their bench goes 15-30 they get a crazy number of assists, really they get decent scoring out of 9 guys…they rest their starters so nobody plays more than 32 mins. they are allowed to clutch and grab, with very little called against them, they are a deep and very strong team that passes the ball very well. they just kind of bullied us…just a game that I couldn’t see the wolves win…

If it wasnt for the officiating we would´ve gone into the second half with a 10 point advantage instead of 2.

The bad officiating conveniently stopped halfway through the 3rd quarter when the Celtics were way ahead.

They are clearly inferior to us and have a worse bench. Its was a highway robbery and still, excluding the 3rd quarter, we were at least even scoring wise. No wonder they can turn the Crowders of the nba into stars this way.

Celtics really took away their paint touches in the second half, and with Wiggins struggling there just wasn’t much. Horford is really good.

Boston is really really good They are top 4 in the league when they’re healthy, and if Love doesn’t get back soon Boston may take the #1 seed in the East. Horford is such a difference maker. This loss was disappointing, but should not have been surprising to anybody.

Only watched the first half, but Horford seemed to give Towns as much trouble as any other player I've seen this year.

Dominican national team battle.

Celtics stand no chance in the playoffs when they face a team with more veteran ready talent. Their trick of getting super physical to offset talent only works in the regular season

i hope someone can find a gif of Al Horford literally just shoving KAT with both hands out of his spots

the refs were bad, but it happens. There were a good amount of decisions in our favor this year. Our team lacks depth and misses Zach's shooting. Rush is just bad and shouldn't be a starter in this league. also Boston is a really good team.

Y'all see why I hate Boston now?

The unearned entitlement? The racism? The overabunance of loud, obnoxious people with orange hair?

Boston type people… they’re really having a moment right now.

Everybody’s a masshole these days.

Say what you want about Tom Brady, but he knows his demographic.  (MY NOTE:  People who love winning Championships?)

When will people just accept that no matter how big their payrolls, or how storied their franchises, or the fact that their football team is a dynasty, Boston sports fans and their teams are always the underdog. The BoSox hate the Yankees for buying championships, so their response was to try to buy championships, and just not be as good at it? And I bet you, there’s a bunch of dumb Southies talking about how the Celtics won last night in spite of terrible officiating trying to give the game to the Wolves.

agree with the last part of it. If you watched the game on NBA tv, you got the Boston feed…they did catch some of the bad calls against the wolves to be fair to them but there were a number of comments about missed calls agains the celts.

I so want Danny Ainge to blow the Brooklyn pick I know he’s super young, but Jaylen Brown really doesn’t impress me. Seems kind of awkward.

LaVar Ball in Boston = justice
