Kings Deny Report Of Bringing In Executive Above Vlade Divac
MAR 28, 2017 11:15 AM
The Sacramento Kings issued a statement refuting a report that they have interest in hiring an executive to oversee basketball operations above Vlade Divac.
Sam Hinkie was mentioned as a target of interest for the Kings.
“The Kings are not hiring Sam Hinkie and have no plans to bring anyone in above Vlade,” the team said.
Divac has said he is in charge of all basketball decisions, but that doesn’t preclude Vivek Ranadive from hiring someone to be Divac’s boss, just like Divac was to oversee Pete D’Alessandro.
Ken Catanella was hired as assistant general manager last offseason.

MY NOTE: This press release, issued today, follows up on the heels of this report, cited just yesterday:
Kings Receive Permission To Interview Sam Hinkie
MAR 27, 2017 8:06 PM
The Sacramento Kings have received permission from the Philadelphia 76ers to speak to Sam Hinkie about a role in their front office.
It is not yet known what type of role the Kings are considering for Hinkie nor his level of interest.
Hinkie stepped down as general manager of the 76ers last April.
MY NOTE: Does a franchise really need a tanking expert? Specifically, the Sacramento Kings, do they really need lessons on how to suck? I also do not understand why the Kings would need permission to talk to Sam Hinkie. I do not see any links that show that he is still with them. The Kings are SO dysfunctional. We are so lucky to have the front office we have! Wasn't always like that. Remember Paul Gaston and the Chicken King John Y Brown? Every time I wonder what Wyc and Steve Pagliuca are doing I just remember Gaston and Brown and STFU.
