The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
I dont know how many of you have seen the new show on CSN. Its on from 9-11p and called Boston Sports Tonight.
Other than Michael Holly and Tom E Curran, the others appear to be transplants.
There is a Blond woman who is from Texas and she must be CSN's female version of Michael Felger.
Pretty negative so far when it comes to the C's. Im pretty sure Rosalie is going to hate her guts.

Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
I've watched it a couple of times and think it is awful. The format could work if they talked about sports, but instead they all try to be hot shits and celebrities instead of sports people. I won't be tuning in any more.

Yeah bobc, don't hold back.
Haven't heard them since I live in Delaware, but you have convinced me already not to try to even find them.

Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
Rosalie here!!! I can't watch that show. They have these people on here who they claim are true "sports"analysts, give me a break. The only one I will listen to is Holley and at times now he is following in the footsteps of all the negative people on this channel. Michael Holley used to be excellent. Are they afraid to be called, in felger's words, "greenteamers"????
How did we get stuck with this kind of reporting on our team? Comcast is big money, and I guess that is the answer to my own question. The Celtiics must be making a ton from this partnership. Come on Wyc, give us all a break.
And, even though I am a woman, where did all these squeeky voiced girls come from????? I know that Abby Chin is liked on this site, however, have you listened, really listened to her reporting. She makes more mistakes for a "professional" than I have ever seen. She is a lovely person, but, this cutesy reporting is too much.
Well, there, I have vented. Send Tom Curran back to the Pats, where he belongs. It is funny he was interviewed on air by Mike and it slipped out that Felger was ticked off that he is not involved in this time slot. How much more negativity would we have to deal with if he was on there. When the Celtics acquired KG, there was much ado on Comcast that night. As he was walking off the stage, he yelled back "I HATE THE CELTICS". and he still does

And don't get me going on Scal!!!
The dude played for years and coached so he CAN provide insightful analysis, which he did when he first joined the broadcast team. Now though he too wants to be a celebrity and cultivates the "white mamba" and "the fans want to see these red locks" routines.
Does Comcast really think Scal and Draper acting like buffoons is what we want to see? I guess their market research must lead them to answer that question yes, but, but count me as one who prefers his analysis dry.
Give me Doug Collins any day!

Totally agree. Scal has turned into a media clown. It's amazing what a camera will do to you if youre not careful. He and Draper and their fake arguments are pathetic. If Felger is indeed pissed off that hes not a part of this circus then thats even better. I hope he disappears never to be heard from again. Free Eddie Andelman!!!

I actually thought that Dickerson did a pretty good job as the C's sideline reporter a few years ago. True Abby is better to look at and she's pretty good but what the hell did they do with Dickerson?

Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
Over the years Dickerson has had many health problems. Believe it or not, he has Tourette's syndrome, and a seizure disorder which has interfered with his job several times. They found him behind the wheel of a car on the highway a couple of years ago and had to be taken to the hospital. He also had some type of a seizure episode while doing sideline for the Celtics. He was replaced and eventually found his way to Comcast as an employee. He seems to come and go, so maybe his health is still interfering with his ability to do his job. He shows up on Comcast at times doing the Early Edition with Tanguay or Felger, but it is not consistent. It is really a shame. Every now and then I will hear him on the radio but again, it is not consistent.
After his illness, when he came back, he began to cover the Celtics the way the rest of those idiots on Comcast do. He is so critical of them and a lot of times sounds like a clone of Tanguay.
It is funny what money will do when it comes to putting these guys every night. Who wants to listen to negativity night in and night out.
All of this leads to one question, why do the Celtics allow a bunch of no nothing's represent their team.

I believe that when it comes to Comcast and who they employ, The Celts dont have a say.

Perhaps they understand that some loyal Celtic fans can handle a less biased opinion about the Celtics - and don't need a steady diet of homerism - like we got from Johnny Most and to a somewhat lessor degree from Tommy Heinsohn.

None of these duds/dudes can compare to Johnny Most. He's a legend. Those guys and girls can only dream of faking it to make it. I will take his "homerism' any day over these clowns who fake the hate just to get ratings. Its sideshow television and most loyal fans can see through that BS.swish wrote:RosalieTCeltics wrote:Over the years Dickerson has had many health problems. Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
I try to be objective but what makes no sense to me is a local Comcast sideline reporter interviewing the other teams players at the End of games. Im not convinced that Celtics fans, especially after a loss want to see and hear our "team" reporters interviewing the other guy. I understand what Comcast is trying to do with that but I totally disagree that fans want to see that kind of "balanced" reporting.
Most fans only care about their team.

Talk about Sideshow television!!!!! Back in the 50's and 60's, when basketball was really struggling to make a go of it, it was Johnny, that night after night ,broadcast a game that was about as far from factual as you could possibly get - and the hometown fans ate it up. Many fans, including my Dad would turn off the voice on the TV set and listen to Johnny on the radio - simply because he enjoyed Johnnies version of the game more than then his visual response to the game.

Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
Sorry Swish but you will not get me to agree with you on this.
Johnny Most taught me basketball. Before tv, I sat with a transistor radio in my bed, listening to Johnny describe play by play, me envisioning it in my head. Over the top?? sure, that what what he got paid for. Do you really listen to Tommy Heinsohn? sure he is a homer, but one who knows more about basketball than those idiots on Comcast.
I will never agree with you there. If you want to listen to Draper and Blakely go ahead. I will turn on the radio and listen to Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell if Mike and Tommy are not on.
I AM A HOMER TOO, I BLEED GREEN AND ALWAYS HAVE.

Re: The New Boston Sports Tonight Show
I used to turn the sound off the TV and listen to Johnny too. He was much more entertaining. The game he called wasn't that close to the game I watched, you would think the riot squad was going to run out onto the floor to break it up, but there's the entertainment. If I have to listen to those fawning, asskissing Cavalier announcers, and before them the fawning, asskissing Heat announcers, I have NO problem with Tommy and Johnny.
And you go, Rosalie, you are the bomb!

You're dad sounds like a smart guy. Your exaggerating big time. I did the same as your dad and Johnny was not off the game. Just telling it like I remember it back in the 50's and 60's - and I loved every minute of it as Johnny took us Celtic fans to the Roman Colosseum (not to the Boston garden) to listen as the Christians battled the lions. Hey - it was all good entertainment as basketball struggled to take hold in Boston. I give Most mucho credit for the role he played so well in those early years of the NBA. He was a big time attraction at a time when professional basketball was in need of colorful personalities to help sell the game.
