Mock Drafts and Player Analysis
Post-Lottery Mock Drafts. I listed the first 10 because, well, Danny is Danny. I left some space on the right so anybody who wants to add their own mock draft has space to put theirs up next to these.

Bob, notice how DX lists Jackson's standing reach at 8'3". He twice measured out at 8'9" standing reach, and even going back several years to his youth he never measured lower than 8'6" standing reach.
When Draft Express doesn't like a player, they intentionally misrepresent their measurements. Remember when DX kept insisting last year that Thon Maker had small hands? The entire internet parroted the same thing, that Thon Maker has small hands. Then Thon's hands were measured at the Combine and they weren't small at all, not even for a 7 footer.
This year, DX is insisting that Josh Jackson has small hands, and that this is a big deal. Just like they're advertising that Jackson's standing reach is 6" shorter than they know it is.
The basketball world is filled with big egos, and the egos of the journalists and draft experts are often just as big, if not bigger than, the players they cover. Every year Jon Givony picks his favorites, and picks the guys he's going to bash beyond all reason, just to make himself feel like a big man.

NYCelt,
I just finished watching the Fultz Highlight film that I just added to his specific post. Wow, can he shoot. I don't know his averages but he shoots like Ray Allen, a very similar shooting motion. He is also very good at change of pace and change of direction. Very crafty for a 19 year old. Unfortunately, highlight films don't usually show solid position defense possession after possession but, offensively, this kid can score in buckets.

MY NOTE: It's hard to compare college players because the quality of their teams are SO different. Kansas vs Washington? Kansas is almost always going to have better players from 1-8. Also, they don't play the same teams. In the NBA you can look at two teams and see how they did against the same NBA teams and get a feel for which team is better and who is the better player.
To me, Josh Jackson is redundant (or depth, if you think that sounds better). We have Crowder and Brown. Could Jackson replace Green? Sure, but what a waste of a #1 pick (or of a #3 pick if Brown is behind Jackson on the depth chart). We need size, we need shooting. Unless we trade some players for those needs then taking Jackson makes no sense to me. I'm not surprised scouts love him, I'm just not sure he is what we need.
So, let's remember even as we drool over these draft prospects that, because there are no Embiids or Okafors up near the top of the talent board, it almost guarantees trades of some of the players that have gotten us the #1 seed in the EC and a seat at the EC Finals. It doesn't matter if we take Fultz, Ball, Jackson or Tatum. If we don't trade the pick one (or more) of our starters will be gone because Danny doesn't care about nibbling around the edges and trading Rozier for another bench player just to make room for Fultz. If Danny is moving bodies to make room for a #1 pick then he's swinging for the fences and Kelly Olynyk and Rozier and even Marcus Smart aren't going to cut it.

The Celtics are shooting 37% from 3 in the playoffs, or 6th highest % out of the top 16 teams. We're making and taking the 2nd highest number of 3s in the playoffs.
I'm not sure it's a fact that 3 point shooting is a big team need. People said the same thing last year when arguing we should draft Buddy Hield. And here we are in the ECF, in part because of Jaylen Brown's two-way play. And he's looking like our best defender against LeBron right now.
I look at Josh Jackson as being a much taller, more athletic Marcus Smart, with the ability to score a lot more points on more efficient shooting. Smart's always getting blocked around the rim because he's short and has no lift.

fierce,
Sure, reality trumps (small "t") all, but what we're talking about is who we think Danny should pick, the same way we talk about whether Danny should trade the pick. The majority of the posters here seem to favor keeping the pick, while the minority favor trading it for an elite veteran but new board members may join and chime in with opinions that tilt things the other way with persuasive arguments and by adding their numbers. Danny'll do whatever he thinks is best, just like drafting this player or that, we're just armchair scouting and GMing here.
Draft for need, or draft for best available, or draft for trade? That's the crux of our discussions here in the absence of irrefutable fact. Wouldn't be much of a sports board if all we did was take what other people tell us and accepts it like Gospel, now would it?

Agree.
I'm all in for Fultz since January 2017.
Rmbone is saying Josh Jackson is what's best for the Celtics.
It will be a never ending debate because some of us believe it's Fultz and some say Josh Jackson.
The result will be a tie because there is no wrong answer.
Josh Jackson and Markelle Fultz can go #1, no doubt about that.
So what will break the tie?
The tie breaker is who the Celts will pick.

Bob,
Interesting post that could fit in any thread.
I find it of interest because you hit on the very definition of what this or any good sports board is for. It is an opinion page, where members write the columns. This is, after all, the one thing we've always tried to be.
"Armchair scouting and GMing;" you couldn't have put it better. There is very seldom much in the way of fact, especially in our most popular topics. It's what any of us think or wish to debate on a given subject. I'll agree 100%; that's the fun of it.

Bradley for Okafor seems like a good trade for both teams.
Okafor has significant strengths and weaknesses to his game that we are all aware of.
I think he's only going to get better.
Bradley could be a good fit for Philly and guard the other teams smallest player.
Simmons or Josh Jackson could guard the bigger guard and small forward.

Bradley is NBA All-Defense First team. Okafor is a player who couldn't start on a shitty team while Noel was there and Embiid played.

I could see why you would say no.
With the thought of Bradley being an UFA in a year and having to pay him $20m per year, do you think Boston will get full value for him?

Who do they have that interests us, that they might give up for Bradley (so forget about KAT, Wiggins and probably LaVine) and whose numbers would match up?

Re: Mock Drafts and Player Analysis
Why would Minnesota give up the #7 pick for Bradley?
They already have Rubio, Dunn and Lavine as their guards.
Wiggins can play some SG.
They might be able to draft Malik Monk.
Minnesota is looking to improve, not win the championship.
