The Markelle Fultz Thread
Might as well have a central place for him since he's the odds-on favorite for #1, so there will be a lot of chatter about him. Will create a thread for Jackson too when there is news about him.

The narrative now regarding the @celtics & the top pick is it'll take 4-5 years before @MarkelleF can b a star & help win a title. Wrong....

He has so many athletic finishes and that's against zones, with our spacing he's gonna get a lot of open lanes and he obviously has the 3 and a great handle.

Markelle Fultz declares his desire to play with the Celtics and Isaiah Thomas

“Hey Markelle, with which number pick would you like to be taken?” (AP)
Three weeks before the 2017 NBA draft, the top two picks already appear predestined, and they will almost surely infuse the Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry with some much-needed animus.
Even before the mid-May draft lottery delivered the top two picks to the Celtics and Lakers, in that order, Ball made clear his preference to play for his hometown Lakers rather than be the No. 1 overall pick. His refusal of Boston’s request for a pre-draft workout only reinforced that revelation.
Now, Fultz is being equally transparent about his desire to be selected first by Boston. He has been in close communication with Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge since they met at the draft combine, and the two sides are working toward finalizing a date for a pre-draft visit, Fultz told ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman on Tuesday. Then, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard dropped this nugget:
“I want to be the No. 1 pick really bad. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, and I feel like I would fit well in Boston.”
ESPN.com’s Jackie MacMullan polled a number of general managers about the No. 1 pick earlier this month, and to a man they revealed Fultz was their preference. Goodman confirmed his colleague’s report, citing multiple sources who described Fultz as “the front-runner to be selected first overall.”
When an NBC Washington reporter presented Fultz with a T-shirt from Boston’s playoff run last week, Fultz said, “That’s nice. I think the internet’s gonna go crazy when they see this. They gonna go nuts.”

Re: The Markelle Fultz Thread
When I think about this draft I think about destiny.
I still have to pinch myself because it is still pretty hard to believe that the Celtics have the #1 pick and Fultz has been established as the most talented player in this draft. Piece by piece Danny is building a young juggernaut of a team.
Golden state built their team on the foundation of three high quality draft picks. OKC did the same thing but screwed themselves when they traded Harden.
I think Philly will be a team to respect sooner than many may think.
You can build a talented foundation through the draft. It remains the least expensive way to add elite talent.
It is however very rare to be able to add high end talent through the draft for a team that has been to the playoffs 3 years in a row.

exactemundo!!!! I am thrilled with Jaylen, Faultz and undetermined 18 pick that could be Porter or one of 2 baby 7 footers, any of the 3 could be dynasty building.
On another note can't believe they let Harden go for a bag of trinkets, none of those players even still on the team.

Markelle Fultz re-tweeted this. I think he really, really, really wants ro be a Celtic. Unless Danny can land an elite player I can live with that.

Can't find anything bad about the kid, except he played on a lousy team in college......Pistol Pete, I believe only made the NIT once in 3 years. Not comparing the two, of course, just saying you can be good on a bad team

Yes.. Certainly cannot fault DA for drafting Fultz.
I think it is the right thing to do. We have not had this level of excitement since the Celtics drafted Larry Bird.
I cannot wait to see our pups play in the summer league.

Not to sure about that...draft in 86 was pretty exciting. Coming off a CHAMPIONSHIP and getting the guy Red wanted at #2. And that lasted about 24 hours, then the shock !! We had to wait a YEAR for Bird to play too so it wasn't really exciting at the time, but has Bird's stock rose his senior year and we had him in our pocket things did pick up !!

Re: The Markelle Fultz Thread
We had that excitement after drafting Len Bias for one day. At least I did. Then our world crashed as did our hopes of repeating as champions or winning another title in the forseeable future at the time as the team all got old at the same time.dboss wrote:Yes..
