The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade center Dwight Howard to the Charlotte Hornets, a source tells The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.
Charlotte is sending Miles Plumlee, Marco Belinelli and the 41st pick in Thursday's NBA draft to Atlanta for Howard and the 31st pick, the source said.
Howard signed a three-year, $70.5 million deal with his hometown Hawks last July. He averaged 13.5 points -- his lowest average since his rookie season with the Orlando Magic in 2004-05 -- and 12.7 rebounds per game in his lone season in Atlanta.
This is the first trade made by new Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk.
It will save the Hawks salary-cap space and signals that the franchise will look to rebuild.
Howard, 31, returned to his hometown after three seasons in Houston, where he battled injuries and wasn't the force he was earlier in his career with the Magic before his one-season stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Miles Plumlee is making $12.5 million/year through 2020 and averaged 2.5 ppg last year. Hawks reallllly wanted to get rid of Dwight Howard.

Does this make Millsap an option for us?

MY NOTE: The Age of the Dinosaur is over. It looks now like every thunder lizard is on the block.
Funny. Doc left because he didn't want to go through another rebuild, but Griffin might be gone, there are rumors of CP3 to San Antonio and now this rumor. If it walks like a rebuild, swims like a rebuild and quacks like a rebuild...

It certainly sounds like they are going into a rebuilding mode so the answer is yes. They already told him he is not getting a max deal.
Milsap is an option at PF that should be considered if we are not able to land Griffin. He would fit in well since him and AH have already played together. The only negative is his age and his 3 point shooting. Actually that's two things not to embrace,

32 is old to offer him a contract in excess of $ for X number of years. Fill in the blanks.

LAC are in a pickle. I am sure that they do not want to lose CP3 but he is 32 year old now and how many more good years are left? The GS template is having a profound impact on the NBA. Luckily Danny already saw this coming and has been building the type of team that can play that way too. I would think that they will want to keep both CP3 and Blake.

LAC may be in more than just a pickle. They have not been good enough to do well in the playoffs and they may be quickly headed for the lottery section.
With CP3 and Griffin as free agents in two weeks and the team gauging interest in Jordan, they may become a very young and very inexperienced team very soon. I will predict that both of their big free agents leave for greener pastures at the beginning of July.
Their division is unmerciful and an inexperienced team will be easy pickings for more of the entire conference. It may be a great time to have a few of the Cloppers future draft picks. Glad that we have at least one of them.

If I were the Spurs, I'd consider moving Aldridge for George
