Re: Free Agency 2017
Yea everyone would like to have 3 first rounders although I really do not see Boston keeping all of them. We already have too many recently drafted players in the system.

The Eastern Division is fast becoming a boring bunch of teams. Think attendance will go down in alot of cities?

With the recent signings, a show I saw yesterday said other than Lebron, the top 15 players in the league all now play in the West.RosalieTCeltics wrote:The Eastern Division is fast becoming a boring bunch of teams. Think attendance will go down in alot of cities?

GREAT!!
get it done guys, keep Danilo FAR away from Danny please.
doing some morning BB reading today, looks like Rose wants to be in Milwakee (no cap room to sign him), Crawford doesn't want to play for tanking Atlanta and instead wants to go back to NY.
sounds like Atlanta may be able to work another three team trade after this one for more assets.

Last year's spending spree didn't help. It got a lot of money on the books last season and also helped to lower the cap this year.

MY NOTE: Toronto, right? That should weaken them. Sam Presti is doing his Trader Danny impersonation this summer.

Dboss,
Washington will sign Otto Porter to sick money or he will sign somewhere else for sick money andcthen they will be weaker too.
And LeBron is aging.

No free agents of value left in our biggest remaining area of need; defensive oriented, rebounding bigs.
Trade time. Or, if we can't find a deal, high-scoring small ball time.

Let's hope they match. Else he goes to the Nets.
That could crack the Golden Egg

Sources: Restricted free agent Otto Porter agrees to max offer sheet with Nets

Restricted free agent Otto Porter has agreed to a four-year, $106.5 million maximum offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets, league sources told The Vertical.
The Washington Wizards will have until July 8 to match the sheet, league sources said. The Wizards have publicly stated their desire to keep Porter, and league sources have told The Vertical that they intend to match the Nets’ offer sheet.
Porter, a talented 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 80 games during the Wizards’ run to the Eastern Conference semifinals this past season. For Nets general manager Sean Marks, the offer sheet for Porter is another aggressive bid to add talent to the roster.
The Nets attempted to acquire Portland Trail Blazers guard Allen Crabbe and Miami Heat guard Tyler Johnson with offer sheets last offseason that were ultimately matched.
Porter, 24, emerged as a critical starter in his fourth season for the Wizards alongside John Wall, Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris. He was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft.

MY NOTE: He is a RESTRICTED free agent, so Washington could match, but I don't think they have the cap space. Sunovabitch! Rumor had it Utah was going to pivot and go after him. C'mon, Washington, step up and match it! I don't want Brooklyn to get any help this year.

You gotta dig for it.
42. What is restricted free agency?
As with any contract offer, a team must have enough room -- either cap room or room provided by an exception -- for the offer sheet. It must maintain the necessary room from the time the offer sheet is signed until the time the new contract is in place or the player's prior team exercises its right of first refusal.
Likewise, the player's prior team cannot match an offer sheet that is greater than its room -- again, either cap room or a satisfactory exception -- and must maintain the necessary room from the time it gives notice of first refusal to the time the new contract is in place. In order to match an offer sheet, the matching team must have room for both the regular salary and any unlikely bonuses.
My comment: Bird Exception?

Re: Free Agency 2017
I believe they wrote into the Cba methods for any restricted free agent to be matched. For instance, we had those strange contracts for Lin and Asik several years ago when the Rockets signed them.
In this case, Wizards have bird rights

Thanks, KyleCleric.
That was basically my question, "Do the Wizards have Bird Rights?"
Then if they do, they can match the contract even though they do not have cap space. BobH will like this answer.
