WALTHAM -- The Boston Celtics announced Wednesday they have signed second-round draft pick Kadeem Allen to a two-way contract that will allow him to split time between the NBA and the G-League.

Under the rules of the new two-way contracts, which were introduced in the latest collective bargaining agreement, Allen can spend up to 45 days in the NBA this season (including any day he participates in practices, drills, workouts, or conditioning work, or is on the active NBA roster). The guard will receive an elevated G-League salary except for during time spent with the Celtics, during which he will earn a pro-rated NBA rookie minimum wage. As long as he is on the two-way contract, Allen will not be eligible to appear in NBA playoff games or be signed by another NBA team.

More on the two-way rules can be found in Larry Coon's CBA FAQ.  http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q82

The Celtics could be just about finished building their 15-man roster, but still have one more two-way contract to offer. Second-round pick Jabari Bird remains unsigned.

Here's Allen reacting to his new deal:

First and foremost I would like to thank God for all of the blessings that he has done and gave me! I would also like to thank my family, my guy @adie_vongontard, coach Miller and the whole U of A family! Last but not least I would like to thank @Celtics for believing in me and giving me a
chance!! Thank you!!
