Ray Allen Sick Of Hate From Celtics Fans: ‘Y’all Need To Get Over It’

Despite being a key part of the Boston Celtics’ 2008 NBA championship, Ray Allen isn’t well received by fans of the franchise. And Allen believes they need to get over it. Allen spent five seasons in Boston and was one of the Celtics’ Big 3, along with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, but his departure for the rival Miami Heat in 2012 made him a traitor in the eyes of fans. So when a Celtics fan account on Instagram wished Allen a happy 42nd birthday Thursday, commenters had some colorful language for the former shooting guard. But this time, Allen barked back.
Allen since has deleted his comments, but it’s pretty safe to say the hatred for him hits a nerve if he took the time out of his birthday to respond. But, uh, happy birthday, Ray!

That's just fans being fans - another teams villain becomes our hero when he jumps ship and joins the Celts.

Re: Ray Allen Sick Of Hate From Celtics Fans: ‘Y’all Need To Get Over It’
In Benidict Arn... i mean Ray's response he wrote just before saying" get over it", this: "i will always be a Celtic"
I think think walter white said it best with this line, "theres a lot of angles to this ok? Its complicacated alright?"
The ray allen deal is a complicated affair and while Rays words were pointed at some fans the fact is his fellow teammates as a whole feel the same way that many of us fans do. Sure there is a diffrence from being a part of the team and being a fan. Being a actual part of the organization may be the brick and morter of the boston celtics, but us fans are the lifeblood, we buy the tickets, watch on t.v. get the merchendise.. some of us gave our hearts to the celtics before anyone on that 08 team was even born, and it'll be us fans mourning their passing in the decades to come with fond memories of what they did during that amazing and special season.
One major diffence between us as fans and most players today was also made by him in that reply, "its a buisness" but it was also more than buisness to his teamates in this situation. Us fans might be able to relate to looking for the best job overall, switching careers, but as far as our sports, especialy Celtics fans, i think it becomes a lot more complicated. For example, the year before 08 as celtics fans we were still there cheering on the celtics despite it being one of the worst seasons in celtics history. We did not stop cheering for the team and make a buisness decision and take up another team to replace one that was just awefull. We did not close up shop when Red passed away. We are fans, thats short for fanatics, what does that mean? Its means when a guy with as full of life as Dick Dorr passes away, in his self written obituary the boston celtics come up... thats who we are, to us, the Boston Celtics are so much more than part of a buisness, "they are
a way of life". Paul Peirce gets that, Kevin Garnett gets that, i still dont think Ray understands that. Untill he does get it, i have to disagree with him, he is not a celtic. In fact, he might not have ever been a Celtic. He was merely an employee of Boston Basketball Partners LLC.
So yes he helped us win a title, but so what, he was only doing his job. He got paid, time to move on.

Ray Allen left us, and as soon as he did he was completely forgotten in our house.
No issues with his play while in Boston and no issues with his decision to leave although
this latest bit of whining is unnecessary.

Hi,
I guess Ray is still regretting his decision to go to Miami. Sure, he got the second ring but he's still paying for it by not having what KG and even Rondo have gotten.
And the "business" argument is kind of ridiculous: he'd'v gotten a better deal in Boston than in Miami.
