Both,The San Antonio Spurs and the Celtics are following the Ukranian center in the Spanish league.Currently he is playing with the team Obradourio and his stats are....11 points and 7.1 rebounds ,but even better he is the leader in blocked shots with 2.6.Scouts says that he is very movile for a player of that height. Also he had a very good tournament in the EuroBasket with 15.3 points and 6.5 rebounds with 1.7 blocked shots.

Re: Acording with the international press The Celtics are following a 7-1 center from Ukrania.
Thanks, International. This board would be blind-as-a-bat on international prospects, even including the ones the Celtics are looking at, if it wasn't for you. You were the first to point out Porzingis, Saric, Zizic, Theis, Bender just to name a few.
Looks like a more traditional type of center. Likes it down low, good around the basket. Has a soft touch on shots, like many Euros. Has soft hands catching the ball. One of my pet peeves about highlight film of big men is watching them dunk the ball again and again and again on uncontested lobs. This guy is 7'2" tall, his standing reach is probably 9' 6", easy. How impressed should we be that he can dunk a ball through a hoop that's 10' high?
Hit a few mid-range shots but not many highlights of him taking them, which tells me he didn't take many. Minimal ball handling, the occasional drive. No 3s, he has taken a total of 2 3pt fgas in 9 games this year, he is not another Porzingis or Bender.
Good shot blocker, that you can easily see. Euros don't measure wingspan, or at least they don't report them, but he looks very long.
25 1/2 years old. Undrafted in 2014. Has no record of playing professional basketball before 4 years ago. That is quite odd for Euros, who will start playing professional basketball while teenagers (if they're good).
7'2", 211#. I keep expecting beanpoles like Tatum and The Freak and Maker to get bullied in the NBA but they don't so I'm not a good person to ask on this.

Bob.
I agree with you about that he looks like a project, but remember basketball in Ukrania improved a lot when Mike Fratello became the head coach of the national team. And Fratello believe he is ready to help a team right now. When 2 team like the Spurs and Celtics are trying to sign him ,that may be true.

Re: Acording with the international press The Celtics are following a 7-1 center from Ukrania.
Never heard of him, but did watch the two highlight reels provided by international. I also agree that he is a project and mostly, for me, because he rarely leaves the floor to shoot or rebound.
Sure he is tall enough, but lots of big men in the NBA can jump much higher than this guy seems to be able to do. He also did not show that he can use his left hand around the hoop which will also limit his success in the NBA, in my opinion, when added to his lack of vertical capability.
Some other concerns: didn't show much range, didn't show much lateral movement, was not filmed playing any defense outside of the lane, his free throws were not on either tape, he did not box out strongly, he did not get bumped or shoved in the video so not sure if he can still play when jostled around, etc. His current age could be somewhat as a worry as well. Perhaps he will be able to become a limited rotation player within two years?

Wideclyde I agree with you ,but the question here is why 2 coaches like Popovich and Stevens and 2 organizations like the Spurs and Celtics want to sign him?Mike Fratello swears that he is ready to help a NBA team right now.And frankly I don't know what to say.

international,
I am sure that he must have something to offer if the Cs are looking at him. Most of my questions relating to him as a potential NBA player come from what I did not see in the videos you posted of him.
At 7'1" he will almost always be a project for someone to take on as he seems to move pretty well. He is likely to not cost a ton of money to sign either.
BTW, thanks for posting stuff like the videos of Pustovyi as I know that I would never had heard of him.

Re: Acording with the international press The Celtics are following a 7-1 center from Ukrania.
spurs are always looking overseas for players.
here is another big man they signed a couple years ago:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boban_Marjanovi%C4%87
he hasn't done much in the NBA except get a nice contract to sit on the bench at Detroit.
Older players (over 25YO) who go undrafted and not signed to NBA teams, typically do not become good NBA players. not today , with all the NBA scouts scouring overseas for 18-20YO's.
