For the third version of our aggregate big board, two guards Lonnie Walker (Miami) and Elie Okobo (France) have jumped on many draft boards.

Deandre Ayton remains in the pole slot followed by Marvin Bagley II and Luka Doncic. Next in line on the list are Jaren Jackson Jr., Mo Bamba and Trae Young. We looked at the latest analysis from basketball experts at NBAdraft.net, ESPN, The Ringer, SI.com and CBS Sports. We added projections from The Athletic as well.

To review, here’s how the formula works: for each mock draft that the prospect was selected number one overall, he was given 60 points. If he was listed at number two overall, the prospect was awarded 59 points. This was then continued until the last pick and if the play was not included in a mock draft, he was given zero points.

Based on these calculations, Walker was projected outside of the lottery in the first two versions of our model. After either participating in or scheduling workouts with four teams in the lottery, recent mock drafts and our own intel suggests Walker could be one of the first 14 players selected in the draft later this month.

Walker jumped Kentucky teammates Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Knox as well as Texas A&M’s Robert Williams in this update. He spoke with our own Alex Kennedy in a recent interview for HoopsHype.

Big night for Elie Okobo with 44 points and scoring from all over the floor. Okobo is my top sleeper prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft. He's currently ranked #22 and rising. My full scouting report from @ringer draft guide:

NBADraft has Trae Young going #3. I don't see any chance of that. Probably around 7-8.

NY Post mock draft has us taking another wing (and an udersized one at that) at 27.

I seriously doubt that.

Many draft boards project picks that are not specific to team needs. Many times they just look at who they think is the best available player at that spot.

Evans is projected to go in that area of the draft, but wishful thinking by Knicks fans to thing Porter will drop that far, UNLESS his back is screwed up still.

A second workout is a sign of interest.

I checked out some highlights on Evans. He does have game.

Evans is a defender and shoots the 3 at a decent clip. Could boost the bench and provide depth and grit if Smart leaves.

I can't see taking him over a big, but if they're thinking Smart might go he becomes good insurance.

what big should be on the board at 27?

Mitchell Robinson may drop that far, but IF he does what does that say about what the teams thought of him at 18-26?

Wagner- Kelly O. again, I think cowens could blow a fuse!

Spellman- does he fit any better than Bass did under Stevens? is he even as close to Bass as a player?

at 27 I don't see a big that isn't a reach to be honest.

Ainge seems to draft BPA in most cases, though one never knows WHO is BPA to Ainge of course.

A player like Evans, Robinson, Khyri Thomas ( yes I think hes dropping), Melton or Okogie (who I like, but may have risen past 27 now) could all be nothing more than replacement for Nader IMO OR a hedge if Smart gets an offer they won;t match ( I doubt it).

Could go the big wing route. Bates-Diop could probably defend NBA 4s. Be this year's Anunoby.

anyone interesting in having a mock draft thread this year?

I have been thinking about making one , even though the Celtics are likely not to be players high up this year.

any interest?

Go ahead and make a Mock Draft thread. It will be interesting to see things develop up to the draft and it will be a good source to look back on after the draft.   I will make it a 'sticky' so that it stays on top.

I may also make this Draft thread a 'sticky' to keep this one on top as well.

Thanks for your contributions to this board,

gyso

kdp,

A few bigs should be there at #27 and beyond that would work in the Boston system, improve rebounding and interior defense, while also bolstering the bench. Two that are projected as second round include Metu and McCoy. McCoy is a bit of a sleeper and has slid way farther in projections than he should, IMO. I wouldn't touch Robinson with the proverbial 10' pole, and Wagner is too much of a development project.

Since Boston has just one pick, trading #27 and going down to the second round might make sense. Perhaps pick up a second in '18 and another second in '19 or '20.

The alternate strategy of taking a point or wing at #27 tells me Smart is possibly a goner and insurance is needed. The team needs bigs badly, and a returning Theis isn't enough. The FA market doesn't seem to hold promise there either. That's why I speculate the front office will go big.

Regards

I forgot Metu he seems to have dropped and I would think fits into todays NBA much better than McCoy.....who might be in danger of not even being drafted now.
