We are planning on the entire family heading to the 4/8 wizard game at the Garden. we'll be taking the train into town (from Syracuse) as I won't have my tour guides NYCelt or Bob and I'd really rather not drive. Looking for a hotel close to the South Station, will be comming in on Thursday eve. Daughter in making the plans.

Any advice would be appriciated.

I think this used to be a Holiday Inn Express, back when we met a couple years ago.

It is right around the corner from the garden. I actually wanted to stay here, but it was a little more $$ than the HI Express at Blossom Hill, where we did stay:

Google the addresses to see the locations. The hotel in the first link won't require you to use a taxi from and to the Garden and North station. The hotel at Blossom Hill from may require a taxi.

There may be others, but these two are the ones I know about. Remember, I'm not from Boston, so there may be other (and cheaper) options.

Beat,

The two I mention are closer to North Station. I am not sure where South Station is.

Beat, are you sure you're coming into South Station? I would have thought you'd be coming in from the North.

Aside from the Noreaster train to Maine, Amtrak only operates to South Station.

Bulfinch is right down the street from the Garden.

Boston in April is beautiful. Have fun.

Thanks All

We'll have a blast!

Thanks to my daughter things are all booked. Tickets are 6 rows up in section 6 on the aisle. Behind a hoop but not too far off the court.

Love the idea of not having to drive !

Beat,

I hadn't even heard of the Bullfinch Hotel, although the classical style of Bullfinch buildings is well known in Boston. An architect named Charles Bullfinch was in charge of what, around the turn of the 18th Century, was akin to urban renewal. And many gorgeous buildings for which he was responsible remain today, including the Massachusetts State House and Faneuil Hall (arguably the centerpiece of Quincy Market where we all had our pictures taken with Red). Perhaps you'll be staying in one of them.

By the way, I just read that Charles Bullfinch succeeded someone else as the U.S. Capitol Building (after the original was burned by the British).

So the guy has a not-too-shabby resume. And I can only assume Charles Bullfinch was the inspiration behind the naming of the Bull & Finch Pub, better known in recent years as Cheers.

Have a great time,

Sam
