The more aggressive team got the calls. That's the way it works.

Ainge is going to have to find someone to help this team. Jermaine is going to be useless and Shaq nearly so. Erden is a prospect who isn't going to help much this year, and Daniels may not make it back.
Time for the GM to find some help.

54-30 LA since we had our 15 point lead.

The Celtis are simply the less aggressive team.

I saw bad calls on the plays I brought up,look at those plays

Its not the refs. The bad calls are going both ways. The Celtics are just being outplayed. Period.

Celts are outMANNED tonight with 6 guys unavailable and Pierce playing with the flu. Not outplayed.

they just couldn't make it with so few players out there and Pierce looking sick, and I wouldn't be surprised if Garnett is under the weather too

Given what we've got left I'm fairly impressed.

Injured, sick and in foul trouble we've stayed in it.

Rebounds and points in the paint cost us this game.
Unless Ainge gets us some help we are not going anywhere this year. Sure we have size, but that doesn't matter much if they are constantly hurt or too young to help.

Miami is coming to town. The Celtics better step it up if they have enough firepower to do it.

Tough loss. I thought the Celtics played gamely and got out to a great start, which was just what was needed. They weren't simply undermanned. They were undermanned at two key positions, and Nate's injury made it three key positions. They wore down, but they hung in down the stretch.

Nice posting with everyone.

This is a no-win game for LA in some ways.

  • They're not going to catch San Antonio.

If they needed a confidence boost becasue they've played so poorly against good teams they can't get it by beating us because we're so depleted.

We embarassed them in their gym recently when we were healthier.

They go into NY tomorrow pretty spent physically and emotionally from this one since we still hung with them to the end.

Not as big a deal for us to lose this one either. Miami evens up with us but they were right there 1/2 game behind anyway with lots of games left for the momentum to swing either way so nothing critical there.

I pointed out some bad calls, the commentators agreed with me right while I was typing.....and where did I write bad calls were ONLY called on the Celtics?

I think everyone agrees that referees, like the rest of us, definitely aren't infallible. The difference between them and a lot of us is that the great majority of their decisions are made at warp speed. At least now there are controls in place for them to double check some of their own decisions via replay.

For more than half a century, it's been an unwritten rule that teams that play more aggressively tend to get the benefit of calls that could go either way. All teams know that. All teams have the opportunity to try to take advantage of it.

Referees weren't keeping the Celtics from going to the hoop in the second half. Lakers (coupled with Celtics fatigue and lack of manpower) were. Referees weren't forcing the Lakers to drive to the hoop the entire game. The Lakers did that on their own.

Sam

Agreed Lakers had more energy tonite, but Perk and Von Wafer both had clean blocks, the replay confirmed it and commentators all said they disagreed with the call,so were being agressive on defense and on those two calls instead of us getting posession, they score points at the line.Rays phantom calls also kept him out of the game.Aggression goes on both sides of the ball,on those calls we got jobbed.

It balanced out in the end IMO. Bad calls were made both ways, as is the case in almost every sporting event with referees or umpires. Tonight the Celtics were undermanned and didn't have the spark to play with heart for the full 48 minutes.
I think this team is going to need some help. The two O'Neals are simply injured too much to help, and Erden is too raw to help much this year, if ever. Once again the size inside told the story of this game as much as anything.

Danny might find some way to get a small forward. But there's no way he's going to allow one position to account for 33% of the players on the team—even if it were possible to trade for a capable backup center. And it's not realistically possible—not with what the Celtics have too offer in return.

Center by committee (specifically the current quartet) is what they bargained for, and that's what they'll have to go with. Basically, considering the injury problems of JO and Semih, they're betting on Shaq to be able to go pretty much throughout the playoffs. And it's probably not appropriate to prejudge his ability to do so by the regular season. During the regular season, they're catering to his every little ailment, including situations when he'd probably be in the lineup during the playoffs.

If Danny does make a move, it will almost certainly involve getting a wing man.
