Game-on Thread: Celts @ Warriors, 2/22/11

Post by Sam on Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:32 pm

This is done on an impromptu basis, last-minute. But at least it's a place to root the Celtics on to their first win in seven games at Oracle Arena. And hopefully to welcome Delonte and Semih back.

Go Celtics!

The contest tonight:

Guess the total number of points, rebounds and assists (combined) for Semih and Delonte (combined). Just one figure combining all three stats for both players.

Entries due before start of 4th period.

There must be at least 5 entries for a valid contest.

No duplicates allowed.

Winner gets $5.

Good luck everyone.

Well I'm all ready for the game. I have a bag of baseballs handy for when that insipid "I may be wrong. I may be wrong. I may be wrong" ad nauseum commercial of Charles Barkley is shown. I've never found any commercial so annoying.

Evening gents, and Ros!

Celtics are 40 and 14 at the all star break with a lot of injuries. I'm happy with that.

Delonte is back, here comes the home stretch tuning up for the playoffs.

I'll guess 18 tonight Sam. Probably will be heading upstairs to watch the last three quarters so won't be posting much.

Sam, can we have a secondary contest? Who will spot BobH first? I think he said he would be wearing green about 15 rows up behind a basket.

Winner gets a symbolic piece ofcheesecake.

I like the lead and the fact that the Celtics are really pushing it up. But that makes it very important that they go inside for a lot of their shots. Because, if they start missing a lot of jumpers, the Warriors will jump all over that pace (which they love).

Cow, we've been lucky to have Tommy for so many years. But them to have Bill sitting in a few games for him? We are blessed.

Boy, the Warriors have almost no halfcourt game except for isos. Keep them in the halfcourt game, and things should go well.

Nate's shot selection is really awful lately. The Celtics don't need hero shots right now.

Wow, Bill Walton is feeling it tonight, he's on a roll!

It will take a few games at least, but I think Delonte being back will be good for Nate.

The bench obviously has to get in synch. It probably won't happen overnight, but it's important to give them their normal minutes regardless of the outcome so the starters won't be overtaxed. Especially in a relatively fast-paced game like this.
