Sam,
unfortunately my drinking days are over, but if you ever come to Berlin I could give you some good tips! In fact, if you like good beer you might like to try two of world's greatest, Pilsner Urquell, which used to be served at the Griechenbeisl (Greek Bar) at Fleischmarkt 11, one of Vienna's most famous restaurants and watering holes - I haven't been to Vienna for many a year - and Budweiser - but not that awful stuff that you brew in the U.S.A. but the real Budweiser also know by its Czech name "Budvar". Both are Czech beers although there is a standing argument about whether they are Czech or German beers as they both are brewed in the area of the country were the population was mixed between the Czechs and the Germans. Pilsner Urquell was doubtlessly invented by a German brewer, a Bavarian who had to leave Germany because he apparently couldn't behave himself (I can't remember if it was about money or the ladies). Pilsner Urquell is the worlds first Pilsner beer and is very heavy and somewhat bitter as it's brewed with lots of hops (not the basketball kind) whereas Budweiser is much mellower and for me something like an elixir from heaven. Also the last time I was in Vienna there was a natural, unfiltered local beer whose name I cannot remember which was sensationally good.

Austrian wine is very good, but one has to be careful at the tourist spots, the "Heuriger" at the edge of town which are very picturesque but quite often serve what I call sugar-water-wine. Avoiding the "Heurigen" you can get very good wine in most restaurants if you stress that you want a dry wine. The whites are very good.

Thanks for the additional tips, Berlin. Actually, I talk a good game, but I seldom drink any alcohol. Among other things, I have kidney problems. My drink of choice is cranberry juice.

Don't worry. I'll relax things in Europe. And my wife loves good beer and white wine.

We're flying to Paris on April 14. Five days there, then by sleeper train to Rome for three days, train to Venice for two days, sleeper to Vienna for two days, train to Budapest for three days, and flying back to Paris for one more day, then flying home. We're really looking forward to it. I've done more than 250 hours of research in advance.

two minutes left in the game and Doc finally puts in Moore and Johnson. Way to go Doc, I thought you'd wait until the last 45 seconds.

A good win. Possibly a look into the future? And some more evidence (as if any were needed) as to why veterans are sometimes valuable in calming things down in the clutch.

Nice posting with everyone.

Good night.
