There isn't much commentary to go with the list, but some of the comments below are interesting.

How about "no competition". The Memphis Grizzlies aren't exactly a high quality rival. They had Bynum and needed OT to beat Houston and Houston's a middle-of-the-pack team without Yao and T-Mac.

It's true that these rankings especially near the beginning of the season are like leaves in the wind. They don't stay the same way for long. If LA loses those two very close games on the road...where do you put them then? It's all kinda silly but it gets people riled up which sells the product, I guess.

I want the Lakes on top of every power poll. I think it motivates the boys.

The writing on that yahoo site is pretty bad. Didn't they have the suns second?

The Hawks are listed 7th and are off to a very good start. Considering that they took the C's to 7 in 2008 playoffs, they are worth watching.

Did anyone see the story that AHorford put out recently about PP owing him 10K on a bet made during the 2008 playoffs when the Captain allegedly wagered (it does have the ring of truth to it) that the C's would sweep? Might have motivated the Hawks to extend the series.

A very very bad idea for PP if it happened. PP is mum and hasn't paid off.

If I'm not mistaken Horford recanted on the whole thing, because it dawned on him that if it was true both could be banned from the NBA for life....so whether or not it really happened....it didn't happen, wink, wink, nod, nod...

Hawks are playing very good ball. Certainly worth watching as I suggested. After tonight even the C's will be watching more closely.

Young, talented, athletic, cohesive, play good defense, trying to get into the upper eschelon.

Solid bench. Starting to believe. Didn't wilt when the C's turned up the pressure in the 2nd half.
