Here's part of an interview with Sully, on his rebounding. The kid has a ton of IQ. He's not just muscling for rebounds, he's positioning himself for them, and basketball is about being in the right place at the right time.

“You have to know your niche,” Sullinger said. “You have to know that if they shoot from the left side, 75 percent of the time it’s coming off the other side. You have to get yourself into position. It’s not about jumping. It’s about getting yourself into the perfect position to get the rebound. It’s reading the shot and knowing your shooters. It only takes me a couple of times to know my shooters.

“Like Gib, his come off short, so if he’s on the left side, it’s coming off on the right side,” Sullinger said of Jonathan Gibson, who came off the bench with 17 points. “It takes me a couple of days to know what shots are going up, and then you just have to rebound.”

It follows that Sullinger must have the flight pattern of E’Twaun Moore’s jumper already charted, considering that they played against each other in college, Moore for Purdue and Sullinger for Ohio State.

“E’Twaun is a little bit of both,” Sullinger said. “If it’s a contested shot it’s going to be long. If he’s by himself it’s going to be short. Ya’ll can look out for that, and when you all find out, you’re welcome.”

So far so good.

Halfway through the 1st and Joseph is looking very good again. Playing good D, silky shot. Came off a weak side pin down and hit the J from the free throw line easily. They've run that play for him a few times this week and he has hit every shot.

Moore shooting and playing well. 5 points already.

Xmas has an iffy jumpshot, but he is always under control when he has the ball. He creates opportunities and thinks pass first. Moore creates opportunities for himself. Both ways have value, but Xmas is the more natural PG.

Hi Bob,

After that beautiful assist from Melo to Sully can we conclude that we've found our point-center?

Hey Berlin!

Actually, after watching Sully struggle against Foote, a 7 footer, yesterday, I don't feel comfortable with Sully at center.

Sean Williams has been getting dunked on all week. Sully struggled to score against height yesterday. Melo is a mediocre man-to-man defender.

We need a back up center. Desperately.

I think you're right, beat. He's ours if we want him. So far, through 2 1/2 games, we do.

great drive and dish by xmas to melo.

I think the Rockets have signed xmas, that's why he's playing for them in Vegas, but I don't know any more than that.

Moore leads all scorers at the half with 13. He's the designated T shooter, so he picks up a few points every game but most of these points are all him. He has played well so far.

Sean Williams is getting dunked on constantly.

Joseph looking silky. I'm impressed with his D, considering he only played zone under Boeheim. How the hell does Boeheim get so many players into the NBA when he doesn't coach NBA defense?

Xmas under control. Not a reliable shooter, but he's active, plays good D and runs the offense well.

Sully's a bull. If he was only 2" taller.

Melo is as raw as St. Patty's day in Southie.

Joseph and Sully coming on in the 3rd. Joseph with a 3 and a steal. Sully rolling across the lane with another one of his hook shots.

Xmas's shot is quite unreliable. I'm seeing now why he hasn't caught on in the NBA. He is a smooth operator with the ball, though, and plays good D.

I still think Melo is our point-center. (I just invented the position).

Jamar Smith shooting well, but making some bad decisions on passing.

Sully the bull. Sucking up boards too.

what a great steal by xmas on Stevenson!

That was a perfect position steal by xmas. He stayed between Stevenson and the hoop on the drive and Stevenson brought the ball right up in front of xmas into his chest and he just grabbed it. NOT a gamble steal. Excellent.
