We May Have Underrated Big Baby Empty We May Have Underrated Big Baby

After watching the Celtics throughout the 1st part of the NBA season, I feel I underrated Big Baby. Don't get me wrong, I felt Big Baby played great last season. But now I feel his quickness, desire, shooting ability impacted the Celtics more than I imagined.

His team defense is definately missed. Many times he moved into the lane to help contain the opposition. BB has quick feet and the size to take up space and draw offensive fouls. His team drfense is really missed.

Offensively, BB showed very good passing ability, set great picks, and improved his mid-range jumpshot. We really miss his offensive rebounding.

I feel Davis will give the Celtics a great shot in the arm when he returns to the roster. He may not have gotten enough credit for the impact he had on last year's Celtics (especially after KG went down), but his difference will surely be noticed this season.

Go Celtics!

It sure seems that way don't it. Another set of young legs for back to backs.

jeb65, I think Big Baby has a lot more to offer than just another set of young legs. The Celtics seem surprised things haven't materialized more smoothly this season. Maybe even the team has underrated BB's impact.

It is going to be very interesting after BB gets back on the roster. Williams has played well. but BB plays better team defense, passes better, and shoots the jumpshot better. He offers more intangibles in my opinion.

And yes, another set of young legs.

Go Celtics!

I am a big Davis fan and I agree that his presence will help once he returns.

sd, I have to disagree that he has a better jumper than Sheldon though. Sheldon has been doing that his whole career, Baby just started hitting that shot consistently last year. In fact, his acquiring of that shot was one of the main reason he had more minutes last year than the year before. I do agree that his defense, passing and inside game are more advanced than Sheldon's though. They are going to be fighting each other for minutes, but that should improve both of their games as they have no room to become complacent.

WOrd up! I would love to be able to see practice. I think there may be some nights when BBD is playing well better than KG...wonder how KG will feel if the student becomes the master in some games?

Jeb, I honestly hope there are nights when Baby is playing better than KG! At this point in time, it won't be all that difficult. Even with the shooting slump that Sheed is in, I feel there have been nights that he has played better than KG. As for how KG will feel, I don't think that would bother him. He seems to be all about the team, and I'm sure if he showed any outward signs of begrudging a player for improving, #6 will be in his ear!

I think KG would prolly be over there cheering Baby louder than anyone. It is a scenario I can see happening some this year. BBD was moving waayyy better before he got hurt.

Agreed Jeb, his footwork is something that impressed me in the pre-season. I know he's always had decent footwork, but it seems to me that the weight loss has greatly improved that aspect of his game. It's yet to be seen, but this injury could be beneficial to Davis in that he's been working on using his left hand. I know he's undersized, but he's always been decent in the paint. If he can throw in some new lefty moves down low, he's going to be a force!

Agreed Baby looked great physically, him driving drawing and dishing out contact would really punish the defense,I like the way SW can rebound and block shots better than Baby, maybe Sheed would be the odd man out of a few minutes.

Sheed may start post defending and rebounding better if his minutes start to slack.

He(Sheed) has shown he can still carry the weight on defense. Shelden has not been getting many minute lately wonder what's up with that?

Any word on BBD coming back for real?
