Since failing to renegotiate a contract with WEEI last month, the Boston Celtics have been without a radio home.

But that status doesn't appear likely to last much longer. CSNNE.com reported Thursday that the team and 98.5 The Sports Hub are "close" to a deal.

According to CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely, the two sides could potentially announce an agreement as early as next week. That would make The Sports Hub the flagship station for three of the major New England professional sports teams, the Celtics, Patriots and Bruins.

Though the Bruins and Celtics have many scheduling conflicts, the overlapping isn't expected to pose any issues. CBS, which owns The Sports Hub, also operates several other stations in the Boston market.

WEEI had carried Celtics radio broadcasts since 2005, but could not come to terms to re-up with the team.

In a statement released during mid-August, Entercom Boston vice president/market manager Jeff Brown said, "WEEI has had an incredible run with the Boston Celtics, from being a part of their 17th championship banner to the end of the Big 3 era. Unfortunately we were unable to come to terms on a new contract moving forward. We thank the entire Celtics organization for our tremendous time together and wish them the best of luck in the future."

The statuses of Sean Grande and Cedric Maxwell, the voices of the Celtics, should not be impacted by the team's radio relocation. According to a Boston Globe report last month, Grande and Maxwell are under contract to the team, not whichever radio station airs the broadcasts.
