On shots he was missing earlier, Jeff's now getting fouled. Kings by 5.

Humph and Cousins are just plain belting one another. Humph hits another jumper, then gets called for holding Cousins' shorts. Landry hits another jumper, Kelly reaches (naturally) and taps his hand.

Another Humph jumper has Cousing shaking his head.  Humph with a great block.  Green passes up the jumper, hits Johnson in the corner.  Swish.  Four point game. Nice, chest-high pass by Jeff so Johnson could launch immediately.

Humph steals the ball from Cousins. Celtics miss, and Humph takes charge for Cousins' fifth foul. A three by Kelly brings the Celts within one.

Johnson's pushing Outlaw out. Just what the doctor ordered. Cousins just belted Humph after a cessation of play. Should have been a tech.

Humph is definitely the Celtics player of the game, whatever happens.  Landry blasts Olynyk around the neck on a Kelly drive.  Officials reviewing to determine whether it's a flagrant.  That was the call on the court.  Call holds up, and Kelly gets two freebies and Celts keep the ball.

Tie game as Kelly goes 1 for 2.

13-3 run over the last four minutes by the Celts. Johnson an in-and-out three, and Olynyk over Cousins' back. Cousins hits one, which is the Kings' margin of lead.

I love the way Johnson always goes over picks.  Timeout with a 5-point game, Celtics ball. 4:37 left.

Humph must be bone tired. He's been in the game forever; 33 minutes so far. Foul Cousins out, Humph.

Great reverse layup by Jeff. Nice shot in crunch time. But Kings come back with two free throws. Still a 5-point deficit.

Jeff does a Pierce up-fake, gets his man up in the air, gets another two free throws. Makes both. Three-point game.

Thompson a nice hook for five-point lead. Green shot a runner—too much velocity from bad angle. Bayless makes a steal but stubbornly dribbles into traffic, loses ball, and Kings get two more free throws on the breakaway.

Six-point game.  As Max says, Kings are keeping the Celts in the game with unnecessary fouls.  But Bass missed two.  Humph fronted Cousins, and a lob pass beat Kris.  Kings by 8 with a little more than two 2:45 left.

Gay drives for a hoop. And Jeff is fouled again on the drive. Both teams taking it to the hoop. Jeff hits both. 6 point difference again.

Kings alley-oop fails.  Timeout Celts.  1:42 to go,; Kings by 6.

I don't know how much the sideline reporters really hear in huddles.  But I've never heard Abbey mention any strategy mentioned by Brad.  It's always something like, "Play together guys.  The game will turn in our favor."  That's college crap.

Bayless gets leveled in rebounding action.  No call, and Jeff misses a three.

Thomas hits two FT, and the lead's back to 8 with under a minute left.

Bayless sinks 1 of 2. It's a 3-possession game (7 point differential) with 40 seconds left and Kings with the ball.

I don't know whether I mentioned it, but Sully's out of the game tonight. Now Gerald gets thrown out, followed by—TA DAH—Brad Stevens. Bass is trying to calm the referee down. Not looking good. Kings by 11 with 31 to go as Cousins fouled out. Too late. Bayless hits two free throws. Celts not fouling. Game over. Another Bayless layup, and that's it.

Final: Kings 105-98.

Jeff Green is 71 for 198 his last 12 games (35.9%). Brutal shooting.

What apparently got Brad ejected was that he told the ref he'd been missing calls all night.  A major factor tonight: Celts missed 12 of 36 freebies and lost by 7 points.  Another factor: Humphries played "only" 36 minutes.  Heck, the guy's human.  Player of the game has to be Humphries despite Jeff's 29 points.  Humph was 9-15 for 19 points and had 8 rebounds.  But only his 2 blocks and 2 steals give a hint of his biggest contribution.  He was a force against Cousins defensively.  Cousins will always score points, but not so much against Kris (he had only 13 tonight compared with his average of 22+).  Kris also ran the floor and kept hitting that dependable jumper.  Cousins was extremely frustrated, which ultimately (although too late) fouled him out.

Thanks for joining me at the end, guys; and Rosalie, get that computer working.

Good night.

Sam, free throws were hardly a factor tonight even though the Celts missed 12 of their 36 as you pointed out.  Boston shoots 76.5% for the season and if they make 28 of their 36 (77.7%) they still lose by 3.  They would have to shoot way above their norm and shoot 31 for 36 (86%) just to tie the game.

The biggest factor was Jeff Green taking 25 shots and only making 7 of them (28%).  I know he scored 29 tonight so I'm not going to absolutely kill him, but he did miss 5 free throws (out of 18) too so if 29 points can be considered a bad game, this is a perfect example.  Only 2 assists too.  His efficiency rating for this game was awful.

I'm ok with Green's performance. Good to see him aggressive. This is a good game for him to build off of. In the long run, we need him trying to score. They'll fall for him.
