Two teams on a collision course for the playoffs.  The result of that battle doesn't mean nearly as much to me as the fact that this is a good test for the Celtics against a team that's in the same general quality category as the Celts but has the advantage of a top-notch offensive center—something that's been somewhat of an Achilles' heel for the Green this season.

The season is turning into one in which the operative question for Celtics players is, "How far can you stretch?"  Fours playing the five.  Threes playing the four.  Turner playing the "1" one minute and the "3" the next.

Crowder's allegedly 6' 7 and 240, but he looks like a growth-stunted toothpick against some of the guys he's being asked to guard.  According to published stats, he's an inch shorter but 12 pounds heavier than the Manimal, but he seems to be a similar type of player—always energetic, always in the thick of the action.  Maybe it's the hair.

Go Celtics

Evening, Gyso and Sam,

It's going to be an interesting one. Can we pick up where we left off against the Knicks?
Hope so, hope so, hope so.

One player I want to watch closely, especially on defense, will be James Young.  He had a spashy introduction a few months ago but has seemed to be in limbo ever since.

He's certainly used to the experience of coming up big in his DL appearances, so he shouldn't have a lot of shyness.  And we know he has a good shooting stroke.  In his case, the rise to rotation status seems to be a question of when, not if.  But first, he has to feel more comfortable on offense and get plenty of clues on defense.

Hi Sam and Berlin,

Yeah, I'm concerned about Young's defense too.

We gotta keep Cody Zeller in check tonight. He went off on his brother last game.

Good, they just held a moment of silence for Earl Lloyd, the first African-American to play in the NBA, a long-time contributor to the league, and was elected to the Hall of Fame as a contributor in 2003.  He was 86.  A thread devoted to Earl appears under "Hot Topics" on this forum.

Like to see Zeller shooting and hitting from outside with no pressure from Big Al.

Al did the upfake in the last game and seemingly can pull it out of the hat whenever he wants to against Zeller.  Every which way but loose.  They will almost have to wind up doubling him.

Smart's mid-range jumper is improving as rapidly as his long ball shooting.

And what fantastic group defense by the Celts, leeading to a Smart three.

Smart feels it. Apparently playing his brother has Tyler awake too.

What a great, tough rebound and outlet by Zeller to Smart for the three.  Tyler may be somewhat over-matched, but he's giving it his all.

7 minutes in and Mahcus has 10.

Zeller with 2 blocks.

Turner with 3 assists and no TOs. Really? What about that pass to nobody? Homie scorer.

The ball was whacked out of his hand underneath the basket.

Thomas just picks up the ball he lost and goes in for the score with no dribble.

Yeah, I didn't think Turner threw a pass to nobody.  Although he has that potential.
