Ktronic, I'm sorry that I have to disagree about Scal.  He is more informative than even Tommy in terms of the technical aspects of basketball.  Although I'm a big Celtics fan.

Yeah I heard Sherrod's "breaking news". I respect your opinion on Scal. Just don't share it. He lacks the personality that's needed in that role and speaking of role, how many times is he going to explain the pick and roll to us? From an Analytical standpoint, Chris Mannix is much better.

They're saying that Duncan is the only NBA player of all-time who has more lifetime blocks than fouls.

Then Mike said Heinsohn is at home yelling that they didn't record blocks when Russell played.  Hey, personally, I think the Russell Celtics were among the biggest losers every.  I'm not guilty of praising anyone on those teams.  I'm just reporting what I see and hear.

Did everyone see that defensive play by Crowder?  He accelerated to cover the guy under the basket, and S.A. isolated on the guy (I don't know who he was), and Crowder completely tied up the larger opponent who missed a bunny; and then, for good measure, Crowder went down to score.

It's impossible to resist commenting on all the nuances of his game because they're so fundamental, so visually appealing, and usually so effective.

Did Scal just say that Wallace passed up a layup? He was fortunate just get his hands on that wild pass from the back court.

I think this will be an early night for me tonight. I was hoping they would come out with a little more zing than this. Bradley and Turner have been terrible tonight. That last play just killed it for me.

See you all next game, I have an early morning tomorrow. Have a good weekend. This too shall pass.

Re: Game-On! Celtics @ Spurs - March 20, 2015

Post by Sam on Fri Mar 20, 2015 10:16 pm

Mike's saying this is the 62nd anniverary of my second-favorite Celtics game ever—the four-overtime win over the Syracuse Nationals that gave the Celtics their first playoff series win ever.  Despite the fact that we all physical contact in those days was a sin, that game featured an early fight, game-long banging of Cousy by Al Cervi, and so many fouls that, well before game's end, neither team could put five men on the floor. In which case, they were allowed to keep the last guy who had fouled out but, on every subsequent foul, the other team was also awarded a technical free throw.  Cooz 10 fg, 30-32 free throws (still a record), 5 points in the last 15 seconds of the third overtime (with no three-point shots in those days)—the last coming on a long, final-second jumper (yes a jumper by Cousy) to send it into a fourth overtme.  I immediately wired Cooz that I'd like to give him my first two children; and he wired me back that I should keep my kids and not expect him to support them.

Hey, I just report what people tell me.

Nice defensive stand by the Celts leads to their pushing ball and having plenty of time for three putback attempts—the third of which went down.
