What happened with Upshaw???
Not sure if Upshaw has been cleared physically to play basketball, but if he has been I am just in total amazement that he went undrafted.
To the Celtics credit all 29 other teams passed on him as well, but with the Cs huge need at the center position I am disappointed that they did
not take a chance on him with at least one of their second round picks. If he is a "project" so certainly are the guys they picked at #33 and #45
(and maybe even the guys they picked at 16 and 28?).
If only to watch him up close during the 8 summer league games, I would have picked him with either 33 or 45 because he is a 7'1" 255 pound
CENTER who showed in the combine that he has above and beyond physical talents.

He'll be playing for the Lakers in their Summer league play.

Re: What happened with Upshaw???
he's a head case worst than Sanders.
teams were not willing to waste any picks on him.
will he turn his life around now that the NBA passed on him?
he didn't when the first college told him to leave, so we'll see.
just another guy who was over hyped , frankly.
forget about him, there are a lot big guys who never play in the NBA

Re: What happened with Upshaw???
Upshaw may turn out to be a complete bust, but I will venture to say that he will end up doing more than at least the Cs second second round pick and may turn out to be much better than a complete bust.
I would have picked him at 33 and or 45 just because he is a 7'1 center and could have gotten a real good look at him and all of his potential warts during the summer league season. As a second rounder, if he had blown his opportunity nothing would have been lost as no second rounder gets a guaranteed contract.
In fact, I would sign him immediately as an undrafted free agent just to see him in the summer league for the same reasons that I would have picked him at #45.

Re: What happened with Upshaw???
agreed clyde for a team with such glaring needs at center, to pass on Upshaw with #45, and use it on another PG when we have like 4 young guys ahead of him is just as moronic a move as a GM can make....if he turns into a rotation player for LA or develops into even more than that, which could easily happen Ainge should be fired just like Joe Dumars.

Re: What happened with Upshaw???
I like Upshaws potential as a very solid NBA backup center.
His weakness is his lateral movements which will be seen when teams use pick and roll offense against him. But against a traditional offense, he can be a big defensive presence and rim defender. He averaged over 13 rebounds and almost 8 blocks per 40 minutes.
