Pre-Game Heat Empty Pre-Game Heat

Probably starting this a little bit early in the season but there really isn't much to say about this game tonight.  If this team is going to be like the championship teams that have come before it, BOS needs to win this game by about 30.  Period.  Each game this year is and will be a statement game and we need to make clear that the most recent ECF was a fluke.  And it was spelled out in the Finals.  MIA was beyond lucky/fortunate/caught all the breaks coming from the 8th seed.  That will never happen again in the NBA.  We could not carry it out the final execution.  Boston should have done to MIA what DEN did to them and made the Finals watched by more than 10 people.  Tonight will be the fully operational Death Star we've been waiting for.

OK.  Enough on that.  But let's set the tone.  I'll expand on this more as this season goes on but we can play all 82 games, have some ups and downs, etc., but the playoffs and who represents the East in the Finals will come down to one match-up and one match-up ONLY.  And if you watched MIL get by PHI by the skin of their teeth last night, this should be as obvious as the nose on your face.

Damian Lillard vs. Jrue Holiday.  It's that close.  Who wins THAT battle goes to the Finals.  Welcome to Boston, Jrue.

Giannis is going to have to come out to the 3-point line to guard KP.  He doesn't like that and didn't do it against Embiid all last night.  But we'll call that a wash with the ever so slight tip to Giannis since he worked absolutely ZERO on his free throws over the summer.

Our edge comes with the 2 J's.  Maybe for a while Chris Middleton can guard one or the other but those two guys for us will shine and snap Chris Middleton's spindly legs in two.  Still a little worried about JB as to which wheel he's going to be, 2nd or 3rd behind KP and egos start to become an issue.  Please refer to 2008 Big 3.  Put the egos on ice.
Edge goes to Boston.

The glue goes to Derrick White.  His gritty play and playmaking will give us the edge.

Benches - Let's get this out of the way.  Ours don't look too good AT ALL right now beyond Al and Pritch and even that is a little shaky after G1.  Hopefully tonight will change all that.  Let's be kind and put our team's bench last of 30 teams after one game.  That's going to have to change.  They should and will have lots of opportunities to develop if our starting 5 blow teams out in the first 2-3 quarters and are seated the remainder of the game during the regular season.

OK.  That's a good start!  Go Celtics!!
