I just viewed Zizic make more free throws in one game than I saw Rajon make in a whole season. This guy is going to be BIG for us!

Thanks.

1.  Love his stroke from the line.  Smooth, confident and efficient.  Not much extra motion making repetition difficult.

2.  A few too many layups for my taste.  Unless he is cutting a sharp angle he should dunk more.  It seems like he only dunks from in front of the rim and doesn't try to dunk from the block.  We already have one center who doesn't dunk enough.

3.  Still love his quick feet on defense.  Staying with cutting guards.

4.   Hit a nice mid-range shot, same shooting motion as his frito.

5. Still lousy defense on him.  Not one defender squared up and forced him to go through them.

I'm willing to wait to see what new tricks Zeller has learned this off-season, scuttlebutt is he has extended his range, but if not then "hello Ante, goodbye Tyler" in 2017-2018.   Even if he has, Zizic will be a fraction of the price and a better rebounder (can't be worse). Unlike Olynyk,  Zeller cannot play 4. That means the comparison between the two Zs is more straight-forward.

Too bad Euro league seasons end too late to sign their players to an NBA contract the same year. It'd be nice to get a few NBA games under his belt this year. At least let him practice with the team and learn the playbook.

That`s a good question. I`m thinking there might be multiple answers , none of which I am attesting to. One involves preserving his confidence, but the more plausible one is that Zeller could have one of those 4 for 5 games when it really counted.  Implausible? Yes..Unlikely? Undoubtedly. Impossible ? See Glen McDonald--- help me out . Was that even his name? One would have to accept the ridiculous notion that Zeller  might come through  under the most fortuitous consequences , but is that any more likely than Zizic making a major impact on a championship team?

Not good. The Adriatic is not highly ranked. Not the worst, but not in the top 5 even.

It appears that All-star numbers in any professional league - including the Adriatic - must not be taken lightly even when the competition is considered to be subpar.

Another point to consider is that league performances don't always translate well to another league. A good example of that might be Gigi Datome.  A star, if not a superstar,  in Europe could barely get off the bench in the NBA.  There is no doubt that Gigi could flat-out shoot neither.  He would be that knockdown shooter Danny is looking for right now for this Celtic team.  His style of play made him a niche player in the NBA.  That isn't just international players neither.  Adam Morrison was the #2 pick and he was a complete bust.  Anthony Bennett, even if he was a shock at #1 was still projected no lower than mid-lottery,  was/is a bust.  NCAA domination doesn't always translate to the NBA.  In Europe, Morrison might have been a star, not because of weaker competition but because his style fit better. I think that Zeller is on this year's team because right now he is a better NBA player than Zizic.  Zeller is much more experienced and will be able to make a difference in some games coming off the bench while Zizic would still have been very, very unproven going into games early in November.  Also, if Zeller has to sit it would be likely that Zizic would also have to sit and sitting is not a good developmental method for a 19 year old kid.

With that said and tied to Zeller only having a one year contract, Zizic may just have Zeller's roster spot next season.  By the next training camp Zizic will have this entire year in Europe (40 games?), probably some more international games for his country (maybe 10 more games?), summer league (8 or 9 games?) with the Cs and a full summer of exposure to the Cs great coaching staff.  He will also be a year older and a year more physically mature even if he does not gain any more weight.   In fact, to possibly guard three positions in the NBA like Stevens likes from his big men,he most likely does not need to get heavier, in my opinion, if he indeed already weighs 265.

His free throws and his dunks look great, but he can probably use to add some more range to his jump shot to be the much more complete player that the Cs pace and space desires from its big men.

Every of our posters seem to like this guy for a good variety of reasons, but let's wait until next season to get his clock ticking towards the all star team or the hall of fame.

clyde I agree that another year of seasoning and developing his game further over there is a good thing as the kid is 19 or just turned 20, but right now I'd bet hes a much better active defender and rebounder than Zeller. Zeller is a career back up/3rd stringer for a reason. When we play him and Kelly together, thats a sight for sore eyes.....2 ragdolls that flail away and can't rebound or get a stop in the paint.

Yup, these are all great points. 

Kid is still just 19, turns 20 in January. Despite great stats overseas we know that if he were over here it would be unlikely that he make a greater impact than a 26 year old like Zeller who has been in this system 2 years. 

Zeller himself is no lock for playing time, as conservitively speaking, a frontcourt of Horford (32 mins), Amir (22 mins), Olynyk (20 mins), Jerebko (12 mins) and the intriguing small-ball lineup where Brown or Crowder gets 10 mins a game a the 4 would leave no room for Zeller at all. That would mean that Zizic would have gotten no burn either, unless in the D-league, which is far less competitive than the full-grown men battling in the Adriatic League. 

Also Zeller has a very movable contract useful in potential future trades and as said, Zizic has his cheap rookie deal pushed a year into the future.
