Bye Bye Kelly? Empty Bye Bye Kelly?

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojVerticalNBA

Sources: Boston's pursuit of cap space makes it increasingly likely Kelly Olynyk becomes unrestricted free agent. He'll have strong market.

He's one of my favorite Celtic players.

Celtics will give the qualifying offer to Olynyk. He would still likely be gone if the C's reach agreement w/Hayward. They'd need the space.

$7.7 million cap hit will stay while Celtics meet with free agents. Signing max guy will make it tricky to keep KO; could be S&T option.

So, Kelly in a sign and trade to Indy for PG?

Times a-wasting!!

Seriously, I'll miss the big guy and all the debates about him.

This keeps open a backup plan if Ainge isn't able to make a major FA signing.

Olynyk is not as good as Paul George, but he will not be recruiting guys to LA during the season next year and will not leave at the end of next season either.

Most importantly, he will not cost two first round picks and two starters.

Logical move to make the qualifying offer. The market will set the price at which point Boston can decide what to do. It does not hurt our ability to sign other free agents. Expect several renouncements at midnight.
