What is wrong with Carmelo Anthony?

With Phil Jackson again, today, seemingly stating that Anthony still wants to stay in NY and will still block any trade to another team,
I have to ask "what makes this guy tick as a player and an athlete?"

I have always been a country boy, and have never lived in or even near a big city, but how can living in a big city rule over getting
a chance to win a NBA title for a competitive basketball athlete? I also was always 50 million miles from being even a good high
school player, but I would have moved to a big city to have had the chance to be an NBA player.

In case Anthony has not noticed or is just terrible with US geography, there are no NBA teams located in a rural areas.
Yes, some NBA cities are larger than others, but they are all cities.

Bob,

One of my two daughters feels that exact same way about NYC (the other kid really likes Chicago), but if you are a professional athlete how can you trade the opportunity to possibly win a championship in another city over living in NYC for the next two years?

I have mentioned before, that if we could get Porzingis that I could accept Anthony even if he lived in NYC as long as he was at practices and games in Boston on time every day.

Perhaps, he is just not the competitor that I thought he was.

No problem with your concerns about Jackson not being anything but a big mouth, but I would still
have to wonder why Anthony has not come out screaming "I want to play for a chance at a ring!"
if he is truly a competitor.

To my knowledge he has not yet won a ring, and he MUST be smart enough to know that one is not
in the near future if he continues to wear a Knicks uniform.

Carmelo's marriage is in a bad place. La La does not want to leave NYC, and they both do not want to uproot their son from his school. Carmelo, I think, is trying to keep the family together, and that is why he is so reluctant to leave. I respect that, since that's what I did, too (to no avail as it turned out). Some things are more important than chasing rings.

i love NY, have been going there for years with "the girls" for our escape trips!
Broadway is absolutely great, we make sure we take in at least three plus shows
while there. We have been doing this for more than 50 years!

Being from Boston, it only stands to reason I wonder I would fall in love with the bright lights and big city

Carmelo now willing to waive his no-trade clause for Houston (to join his buddy Chris Paul) and Cleveland (to join what's his name).

So, now it looks like "staying in NY" for his son is no longer so important.  Big time spoiled brat.

I just do not like this guy, and may have to even take back my thoughts on "accepting" him with the Cs if a trade were to have brought Porzingis.

well he maybe should have thought about that when he was keeping his mistress in the high life. Wives do NOT tend to like that.

Melo stayed in NYC because he thought it would help his brand. Now he's leaving NYC and leaving his child behind, and another expected child with the stripper girl. And he probably thinks that chasing a ring will help his brand more.
