Re: Happy birthday, BeatLA and steve3344
thanks all
57 and today I feel like 87! Can't hardly get around, hope it's nothing serious but I was fine yesterday (hip issues)? Dr. tomorrow I guess.
hectic weekend with hospital visits baseball playoffs and much more. Just got back from Syracuse this eve after taking in a game with the kids.
Marcus got some big news yesderday, he's been asked to play on a regional Babe Ruth team 15 yr old and under. They have a 40 ish game schedule and it will be a big opportunity for him. They will be traveling a lot, even into Canada some.
Anyway thanks, this board means a lot to me. And yes Sam the Celtic win certainly came at a great time.
Again thanks

Re: Happy birthday, BeatLA and steve3344
Thanks guys. The big six-oh today. Still feel 16.
The Suns gave me a pre-birthday present by about an hour last night by beating the Lakers, and now the Celtics can give me a pretty shocking sweep later today (I don't remember anyone here even hypothesizing THAT possibility) against what looked like a very formidable Magic team.
Not only are the C's clicking in every phase of their game since game 3 of the Cavs series, but against Orlando I think there is a bit of payback added to their fire. I think they all thought they should have beaten the Magic last year even with KG out and are PO'd that they lost game 7 on their home court. I think Boston was out to prove a point in this series - beyond winning it - and so far, they've certainly made it.
Lastly, I'd like to thank all the guys on this board - a bunch I've met and some I haven't - for providing this Celtic fan with as passionate a group of fellow rooters YEAR ROUND to become new friends with.
And a message to the guys in green: close it out tonight! And then get some rest while LA and Phoenix extend their series.
Later...

Re: Happy birthday, BeatLA and steve3344
rather than start a new thread here is a part of the article in Marcus's baseball playoff loss to General Brown. From the local paper.
It wasn't pretty, as many of General Brown's wins this season have been. The Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including the winning run on a wild pitch by Spartans reliever Marcus Shelmidine on the first pitch he threw to Troy McAdam with the bases loaded.
Senior catcher Ken Cote slugged a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, as the Lions took leads of 2-0 and 6-4 then fell behind 8-6 before putting together their final rally.
"It kind of mirrors our season," said Pitkin, a former standout General Brown athlete who also serves as the Watertown Zone 3 commander for the New York State Police. "We've been down a lot of times and come back. The kids have kept a positive attitude since our bad start, and have really come together as a team."
After watching the No. 3 Spartans (8-10) score four runs in the top of the seventh inning to gain the lead, the Lions could have easily wilted. But instead they forged a four-run rally that included three walks, including one with the bases loaded, a RBI single by Jordan Delaney and an infield single from Mark Allen.
South Jefferson reliever Mitchell Modlin walked three of the four batters he faced after taking over from Nick DeFranco with two outs and a runner on second. Shelmidine relieved after Tom Hawthorne walked to force in the tying run, and Shelmidine uncorked the wild pitch.
Nothing like bringing him in with the bases loaded, 2 out in the bottom of the 7th!! (seven inning games by the way)
Actually the pitch was low but not in the dirt till after it went past the catcher.........he just wiffed on catching it.

Beat,
Sorry Marcus had to experience that. They put a lot on him at his age level. The all-star series sounds like a great opportunity and more in his age grouping.
Go Marcus!
