We're going to be a handful to deal with next year.

We need a young center to mentor under Horford and grow up with the two Js. We don't need him this year, although that would be nice, we just need one within 1-2 years max.
And that's about it. Last year's team with a healthy Irving and Hayward and Theis, and a young big to grow into Horford's role as he phases out, and we dominate for the next 8-10 years. Longer, if Danny can offset an aging Kyrie Irving with a good young talent (I'm talking 8 years from now, when he is 33-34 years old and in decline. Someone younger to take some of the load off him and can play alongside a 29 year old Jaylen Brown and a 28 year old Jayson Tatum).

cap issues will become a problem for any team playing for the title fro a 5 year span.
GS will soon be torn apart by the cap.

Hope we don’t do anything, can’t wait to see this team together next season!! We are so set with all the pieces for this era.

Need an agile big man to defend the rim. And score a little. But who to get and what to give up is the huge question. Baynes is solid but not enough. Ideally he should be getting his 15-20 minutes off the bench. And Greg Monroe is history.

Could be on the roster already with Theis.

It's true that the salary cap is an inevitable challenge to face. This is why draft prospect research is that much more vital.

Need someone taller. And I know that's a big order.

Warriors winning without the big man, we have better bigs than them with Al, Baynes and Theis, if Kyrie and Hayward can be as good as they can be in recent past, we will have more firepower as well.

Hard to have more firepower than Durant, Curry and Klay Thompson. But if Kyrie, Hayward, Tatum and Brown are all healthy and at the top of their game that's about as good an NBA foursome offensively as any in the league.

Kyrie, Hayward, Brown, Tatum, and Horford looks like a pretty stout 5 on offense. We'll score with anyone and be able to defend, too.

That's assuming Tatum can play power forward. And that's assuming a LOT.

We’ll have a lot of options, can always start Baynes and have Hayward come off the bench, might be better to limit some of his minutes early next season.

Re: "How the Celtics pulled off one of the greatest rebuilds ever to become the team that should terrify the NBA"
I agree with the idea that the Celtics need to add a young big that can learn under the tutelage of Al Horford. That has been my position for sometime.
The Celtics would like to move up in this draft to get a center but Danny is not trading either of the J's to get there. I still think he has the assets to move up but it is going to take two first rounders to get there.
If the Celtics do not trade up they will likely take the best available center at 27. I would take Omari Spellman out of Villanova. If Boston is concerned about losing smart than they may take a defensive guard. I am feeling that they go for a center. This will result in Boston maintaining their roster and their future first rounders because they will be needed down the road when Danny goes after another stud.

Dboss I totally agree with you, and don’t think Danny would be dumb enough to gut our special young players on the team to pursue that big. With all the firepower we have, we just need a good role player type young big. I’m sure we can find that piece with all our picks we have coming up.

And hopefully we can add a talented big with the Sacto pick that could be between #2 and #10 in 2019.

They say it’s a weak draft for bigs, but I have to believe a good role playing big will emerge.

Depending on where the Sacto pick lands will ultimately determine the options for Boston. The Kings had the 2nd worse Offense/Defense differential at 7 points last season. They need both offense and defense. They will need to draft a two way player if they want to improve.
I think they are definitely in the lottery again maybe 5th or 6th.
Anyways that is a very valuable pick for Boston.

Re: "How the Celtics pulled off one of the greatest rebuilds ever to become the team that should terrify the NBA"
The time has come, with the exception of a new big, to let this team play together, healthy, and become the powerhouse team we all seem to think they can be. There is a time when you have to stop ripping apart and put trust in what you have built. I have said this for a while now. Let it be, with that one exception of another big. I cannot wait to watch them all on the floor during the first game of the season. This could
really be fun
