Paul has become a true Celtic, and is really a role model for how a superstar team player should act. He has really grown in the last 3 years, and I believe, knows deep down the tradition of this franchise.

My hat is off to him.

There is quite an article in SI this week written by Ian Thomsen about Rondo.
It is quite revealing as to his relationship with the older guys and how he views himself in relationship to other point guards in the league.

It is great for him to feel so confident about himself and about how he runs the team now. However, my question is, does he think he would be this advanced in his point of being the best on the team without having the big 3 there to guide him? Let's face it, having Paul Pierce, Ray Allen or Kevin Garnett be on the receiving end of many passes or throws, ie

Paul is definetly HOF bound and more importantly, Rafter Bound. He solidified his place in springfeild and those hallowed rafters in 2008, what we're seeing now is just more credintials that will be covered at both cerimonies. This upcoming series is gonna be a slobberknocker, cant wait to get it going..

I never lost faith, just call it blind faith sometimes!!!! I can't wait, if La thinkis they are going to have it easy, they better watch out. We take one in LA, and then win all three here!!! Doesn't that sound like a good scenerio????????

By the way, as far as PP is concerned, I have felt for a long time that he was hall bound. Winning this title will solidify that! I know at times lately it has been easy to criticize him and his play, but, put the money on the line and he
comes through every time. I love that about him. No Fear!!!!

He'll never be one of my all time favorites like Hondo Russ Cowens or Bird, but I can say this about Paul, like them he is NOT afraid of failure. Put good players around him like those players had and he becomes even better as we are now seeing.

He is to this generation what Hondo and Dave Cowens were to me when I was a kid coming of age,alot of kids never got to see Bird,McHale and Parish.....thank god for the Truth and his big game ability,hes their Celtic Immortal to fight all the enemies.

Basketball-reference.com has Paul Pierce with a 95.35% chance of making the HOF. Ray Allen is 90.72%. Garnett is, of course, 99.71%.

The more points, rebounds, assists, awards (MVP, DPOY, etc) a player gets, the higher his percentage gets. Understandable.

By comparison, I believe I remember that after the 2008 championship, Pierce was a little over 90% and Ray was about 85%. So, in 2 years, they both went up 5% or so without another championship.

Beat - I know exactly where you are coming from. You're right on there. Hondo was my favorite Celtic from the day they brought him in. His thought process when it came to "team" basketball was different than Paul's. This is a new generation, they have no idea what those guys gave up of themselves in the '60's to reach their goals. However, they have the right to believe that PP is one of the Celtic "greats". I will not get into a discussion about who I would put on this list and where. I feel I am insulting this generation of Celtic followers. However, they must understand, we have seen the BEST, this is
all secondary.

Rosalie, I understand your hesitation to get into lists. With so much Celtic greatness to select from, it would be almost inevitable that someone would get insulted in that process.

The way I try to look at it is that the Celtics have reached the pinnacle in four different eras. Each of those four eras has demanded a set of winning attributes (both mental and physical) unique to that era. And, in each of those four eras, the Celtics have met the challenges.

Here's hoping the next couple of weeks will see the Celtics solidify their greatness in the most recent era.
