Great picture of that dastardly thug McHale being a brute as was his norm.

I still can't believe he did that, but wasn't it Larry's sissy comment that fired them all up?

Bob,

Yes, I think it was Bird calling the team out that sparked them.

By the way, what does Ryan mean by overall Russell was 9-1 in championships won...?
Does he even follow the Celtics? just kidding....but Russell was 11-1...

Maybe as a Player only?
Last 2 were as a player coach.

I guess but geez...that's more impressive to me...Has anyone else won a championship as a player coach? You would be the guy to ask....I'm guessing no...

LA

Heck there have only been a handfull off them (player coaches anyway) Lenny Wilkens, Bob Cousy (ever so briefly) 10 ganes or so with Cincy.

Here are a couple articles about it.
In the second one it hasa little quib about potential player coaches, love the little bit about sheed.

I don't see any that won as a player coach except Russ.

LA,

I saw that and I'm not really sure where he gets 9-1. We're 9-2 overall versus Minneapolis/Los Angeles so that doesn't work either, especially since not all of it is within Russ's career. Your guess of subtracting the two as player-coach might be right, although only Ryan would know why he would do that. Maybe he wrote the article before he got his morning cup of coffee.

Good article. But Bob definitely needs to get out more. I'm watching video of the Selvy shot right now.

As a matter of fact:
