What a great, great, defensive stopper he has become. His defense on Kobe was every bit as important as Baby's offensive rebounding and points.

Good article, Bob. In general, I'm not a fan of ESPN, but this was an exception.

TA does play very good defense but how many minutes can Boston give him? They already have Perkins that provides almost no offense, KG/PP/RA have been ice cold at various points in this series. Rondo has little confidence in his shooting right now.
If TA, Rondo and Perk are on the floor at the same time, that is 3 guys that LA won't cover on the other side of the FT line.
In the 4th quarter of a close game, TA could be very valuable against Kobe but I don't see him playing any more then he has been.

You wouldnt play TA with both Rondo and Perkins in.

You play TA with Nate or maybe even TA/Ray/Pierce/KG/Sheed.

Try covering that.

During the regular season, the quintet of Rondo, Tony, Perk, Ray and KG played the fourth most minutes of any Celtics combination and was #3 (very close to #2) in the +/- statistic.

It's not all about how much you score—at least not in Boston. It's more about how many points you gain or lose vs. the competition.

Stat provided by 82games.com.

If Rondo is sitting on the bench, I REALLY like LA's chances.
Where do we sign for this deal?

You mean like in the 4th quarter?

Obviously it is not intended to be a starting 5.

I hope Boston plays Nate, Rasheed, TA and BBD in the 4th quarter of every game.
TA needs to shoot more from the ouside. He has a beautiful jump shot.

Doc's comments about the Tony Allen "Kobe Stopper" title:

Celtics Coach Doc Rivers laughed at it.
"You guys are setting Tony up right now with all this 'Kobe stopper' stuff," Rivers said. "There's nobody, by the way, that's stopping Kobe Bryant."

That is not what TA brings to the team. He brings great defense and some slashing/fastbreaks.

I am cool with that. Like Sam said, to win the game you do not really have to score a lot of points, just more than your opponents.

But you know that of course and you are just being polemic.
