How Celtics' Jayson Tatum helped make NBA history in win over 76ers

The NBA playoffs are when the star players shine the brightest. These days, those stars tend to have fresh faces.
Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 32 points Monday night in Boston's 109-101 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of their first-round NBA playoff series.
Those 32 points marked a career postseason high for the 22-year-old, surpassing the 28 he dropped on Philly during the 2018 playoffs.
Tatum wasn't the only young gun who thrived in the NBA bubble, though. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell (57 points), Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray (36 points) and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (42 points) also topped 30 points Monday -- and made NBA history in the process.

Donovan Mitchell, Jamal Murray, Jayson Tatum and Luka Doncic all scored 30+ points today. Today marks the first time in NBA postseason history that 4 players under the age 25 scored 30+ points on the same day.
Meet the next generation of NBA star players, folks. (Also, if you missed Mitchell and Murray's epic duel in Jazz-Nuggets Game 1, do yourself a favor and watch it.)
Tatum made some history in his own right Monday, becoming the youngest player in Celtics history to tally 30-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in a postseason game.

Youngest Celtics player with 30+ PTS, 10+ REB in a playoff game:
22y, 167d — Jayson Tatum
22y, 230d — Tom Heinsohn
23y, 129d — Larry Bird
Tatum's achievements alone should scare Boston's opponents -- but he's not the team's only young star.
Jaylen Brown, 23, also added 29 points Monday night as he and Tatum became the first Celtics teammates to score 29-plus points in the same playoff game before their 24th birthdays.

Only other teammates to ever do it
Durant - Westbrook - 5x
Durant - Harden
Shaq - Penny Hardaway
Keep in mind the Celtics are the NBA's most successful franchise with a league-high 17 championships, so Tatum and Brown are altering a lengthy record book. If they continue at this pace, Banner 18 could be raised to the TD Garden rafters in the near future.
