Many Indiana University fans hope Brad Stevens comes home to coach their team. Unfortunately for Hoosiers fans, they may have to keep dreaming.
The Boston Celtics head coach appeared Tuesday on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertrand.” During the interview, Stevens addressed the recent rumors linking to the Indiana job.
“That’s nice of them, that really is,” said Stevens. “And that’s home. I get it. I appreciate all the nice sentiments. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed, and it’s certainly very kind … Passionate fan base.”
“[But] I am not,” replied Stevens when asked if he would leave his job with the Celtics to coach Indiana.
The Hoosiers fired head coach Archie Miller this week after four seasons at the helm. Stevens is a native of Zionsville, Ind., which is about an hour south of the IU campus. He also had a much-celebrated history of success at the college level coaching Butler University in Indiana. That included back-to-back national championship game appearances in 2010 and 2011.
However, Stevens has found a home in Boston, coaching the Celtics since 2013. He has become one of the most respected head coaches in the NBA and is coming off three conference finals appearances in the last four years. Celtics ownership also recently reaffirmed that Stevens is the franchise's guy. That means that Hoosiers fans are out of luck here.

Re: Celtics coach Brad Stevens addresses Indiana rumors
Not so fast Brad! If the Celtic fall in the first or second round this year I believe the Celtics will fire Brad. They have no choice but to.
Why you ask? When you combine an eight-year tenure that has seen no season ended later than the Eastern Conference Finals, a roster that is growing more expensive with every offseason extension, and a season that has fallen far below expectations, you end up with the current rumors that Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens could potentially be coaching elsewhere next season.

Re: Celtics coach Brad Stevens addresses Indiana rumors
seems like a dream set up, doesn't it?
star coach comes back home to his "dream job".
Many Celtic fans get their dream of a new head coach.
of course dreams sometimes turn into nightmares also.
I do wonder if this is the last we've heard of this.

As soon as The Hoosiers hire a new coach not name Brad Stevens the rumors will definitely go away.
