Grizzlies have waived Carsen Edwards

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WLFI) — Former Purdue standout point guard Carsen Edwards has been waived by the Memphis Grizzlies organization.

Edwards was recently traded to the Grizzlies from the Boston Celtics.

The former Boilermaker was picked by the Celtics 33rd overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. Edwards appeared in 68 games with one start. He also logged time with the Maine Celtics, Boston's G-League affiliate. He averaged 3.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 9.2 minutes.

The Grizzlies posted the following statement on Twitter on Thursday night:

So now what does he do? This is what makes the NBA so fascinating and yet so mysterious. One kid from a big name school and a sharp shooter can't cut the mustard yet a guy from Centenary College (without googling it I still don't even know where that is but it's my favorite no-name Division IV-BBBB college to reference in these situations!!) comes from literally out of nowhere and wins three world titles, perennial All-Star, etc., etc.
