Update: Former Celtics Players
I thought some might be interested in having a separate thread in which posts can be made about former Celtics players, either on other teams or retired players who have a news update.
I thought I would give an update about Shelden Williams.
He played great in the pre-season and earned the staring PF spot for Denver.
In his last pre-season game he had 27 pts and 8 rebs in 30 minutes.
Last night he had 8 pts and 16 rebs in only 28 minutes due to early foul trouble.
It looks like he finally might be turning into the NBA player that many expected he could be.

Former Celtics players? How about when Hondo scored 54 in a playoff game to set a franchise record, making a record tying 24 field goals along the way? Anybody know which game that was?
Or how about when JoJo White went 60 minutes in an NBA Finals game? Anyone know which one?

Good for Sheldon. He seemed like a guy who could thrive, but only if he found the right situation. Apparently he may have found it. Thanks for starting this thread, TJ. Except for Al Jefferson, I've lost track of the players who went to Minny in the Garnett trade. Maybe someone could get me up to speed.

visited freinds this summer out of town and went out for lunch, the guy sitting behind me was there enjoying a meal with members of his family he'd just met (or his wifes family) since it was a family reunion of sorts i didnt feel it would have been proper to invade their privacy when he mentioned having played for the celtics "back in the day"
did end up paying more attention to their conversation than my own after that though.
apparently the guy fell into what he considerd "dark hard times" after his career then married, got religion and is a much happier person today.
they called him "fred" or freddy and he was a Saunders. Alive and well living i think in or around Cincinatti

I remember him. Not a bad sub. Had the misfortune to miss the championship years of the 70s and to play on the Wicks-Rowe teams.
That must have been interesting, Matty. But here's the real question. Do you recall anything about the conversation at your own table? lol.

Sorry for the mistaken identity, Matty. Sounds like you were just as well off concentrating on Fred Saunders. lol.

That would have to be the l976 triple overtime game here in Boston against Phoenix. What a game!
