Jayson could play 19 more games this playoff season and eclipse even Tony's ranking for scoring under age 24.

Yes, D. White has been atrocious. Udoka better coach him up.

Now we just need Tatum to get a few of his patented 40-50 point playoff games in this series and we’ll be fine.

I am just so darn impressed with how Grant Williams game has evolved this year. He is making it impossible to keep him off the floor for any length of time. His three point shooting is vital to this team and his defense is off the charts. He played Giannis last night as if he was the same size, muscled him at times and frankly, outsmarted him on so many plays. The kid has come a long way

Rosalie, Can you ever remember a Celtic player improving more in his first three years than Grant? He has been phenomenal. What mental and physical discipline.

Hats off to IME f0r getting this team ready for game 2. What a superb bunch of guys. What a team.

Actually, Rob Williams has done almost the same thing. Remember when he did not make his first press conference and missed his plane? Everyone thought this was just another throw away draft pick by Danny. So...........you give hats off to Ime, I give hats off to Danny Ainge, he brought most of this team together. Everyone seems to have forgotten that he drafted Marcus, Jaylen, (who he took a tone of heat for drafting), Jason, RWII, Grant, Pritchard and if you really want to go down the bench, he is the one or originally brought Theis over from Germany. So there is alot to be said about him being partially responsible for this team;s success. Ime has just been the one to pull all the talent out of them and have success, finally,
at winning. Remember, Danny, when interviewed, always said, "we really like our team"

so my hat goes off to Danny as well

That's interesting.

Then again, I guess since the NBA 3-point line was instituted, they've not often had to contend with Giannis and Portis sealing off the paint.

Jaylen Brown: "My whole life is on pause.  The only thing that matters is the playoffs."

Finally Jaylen!  I am just so happy to read that.  When you are competing with the best in the world, distracted focus is just not going to cut it.

There you go Kyrie, I am so glad that you are somebody else's problem and not my team's problem.

[quote="dbrown4"]What has gone unnoticed is Giannis has had two crappy games.  If we had been anywhere close to regular shooting in G1, we'd be up 2-0.

Yeah, the 3-ball frenzy has to stop or at least mix it up a little.  What happened to us going at their strongest weapon?  For us on offense it would be heading to the paint and getting fouled.  Fouls were down for MIL in G2 which is supported by all our threes.  Just a better inside/outside mix will suffice.

I think White is more like a budding Marcus Smart.  Lots of things he does we've pointed out do not show up on the stat sheet.  Scoring will catch up.  He looked a little tentative last night and kept missing his shots all coming off the rim in the same spot.  But some more "O" from him wouldn't hurt us a bit.

Giannis I guess is getting the "Jordan Rules/Fouls" treatment.  To which Jordan said, "So?!"  Implying it is up to us to work around and through him.  So far, his shooting has been atrocious just like...ummm...what's that guy's name again....Oh yeah, Kryrie.  And we gave him for freebie G1.  Giannis has sucked in both the first two with the stellar D.  More like KD.

I really like White and am still confident that he’ll snap out of whatever it is. I know he is better what we’ve witnessed here lately. However, this “the little things that don't show up in the stat sheet” is a term thats way over used. If “those little things” he is supposedly doing to impact the game don't outweigh his continuance to miss wide open shots, beach ball bubbly floating passes that only Gumby could make something out of and his stepping out of bounds not one but twice , not to mention his “take” foul when knowing that we were shorthanded which turned out to be his forth, then those “little things” become itzy bitzy teeny weeny thangs that don't help much if at all. I’m pretty sure we’ll see better from White future forward, hopefully fo’ noon this Saturday. I really like this dude. BTW, what are those things that are ‘not showing up in the stat sheet”?

The “Jordan Rules” actually were the tactics applied by the Pistons to stop or minimize Jordan’s impact by fouling him hard and making it extremely difficult for him.
Jordan fixed that by spending more time in the weight room and bulking up and eventually those “Jordan Rules” were rendered ineffective.

Sean Grande
@SeanGrandePBP
With his 10-point 4th quarter in Game 2, Jayson Tatum passed Magic Johnson for 6th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list for players under 25.

He should pass Marquette legend Dwyane Wade in Milwaukee this weekend.

They pass out trophy’s for this? Geez

So here we go again.
All GM’s say “We really like our team”. Especially when they’re being asked if a trade is in the making. I have heard at least 7-8 GM’s and Head Coaches say the same thing. Its part of the Sports Lexicon on ‘How not to say anything by saying something’.

Can we please not play the who gets the credit game here? Owners,The President of BB Operations, GM and coach all contribute to putting a winning team on the floor.

If it its stinks at the top it’ll stink at the bottom and no one wins.
Obviously our franchise, the Boston Celtics have had very little history of stinking from the top. Recent history which includes Wyc, Danny, Doc, Brad and Ime have
A track record of success. Can we just leave it at that and not pick sides. We’re all on the same side. Thank you very much…

Post by dbrown4 Thu May 05, 2022 6:17 am

Good catch, Ktron. Should have fact checked. Probably should have said ...getting Super Star Treatment. I incorrectly merged an MJ interview and a given term.

Jordan was asked after a game or during a playoff series that how can the other team compete/beat the Bulls when you/the Bulls are getting preferential treatment on fouls, calls, etc., all the time. Michael's response was, "So?" Something like that.

Yeah, dboss, I don't want to call Saturday's game the ultimate must win, but it is. It has to be. If we lose G3, we're right back in the exact same hole we were in with G2 where it would be a must win and in this case to keep us from going down 3-1 . If that happens, like it or not, we've again said to MIL we're the weaker team and this series is not as close as we thought or think it is. Now could we come back and win a G4 being down 2-1? Of course, but it's what is going on between the ears. We lose G3 and the Celtics start to think that maybe we ain't that good and MIL is better because nothing has changed. We're back in the same spot needing a must win. At some point, to get back on track, we're going to have to win at least two games in a row because of the G1 gaff. And since there is a max 7 games on any series, it's either G2 & G3, G3 & G4, G4 & G5, G5 & G6, or G6 & G7. Still lots of opportunities and that's assuming we don't drop G5 or G7, but it has to happen preferably sooner than later. Plus this gives the defending champs some heat. And we all know what we are expecting in these two games in MIL.

Currently Vegas is giving MIL(-3.0). An edge but not enough confidence to write home about.

A loss on Saturday just makes our trek that much harder as the number of games playable keeps getting shorter and shorter.

The Celtics strategy changed from game 1 to game 2.  They were more physical than we were in game 1.  Giannis is a physical masterpiece however we are going to keep banging on him and try to wear him down.  The Celtics  just need to contain all the ancillary players.

Basically if the Celtics check Connaughton and Allen on the perimeter the Bucks do not have enough fire power to beat us.  Case in point,  game 1 they went 5-10 from deep.  In game 2 they were an insignificant 1-3.  The Celtics just need to be mindful of how and when they bring a double team to check Giannis.

Another strategy that we have yet to employ is to take the ball out of the hands of Holiday.  How many quality ball handlers do they have after him?

The Celtics have a lot of ways to beat the Bucks.  There was no defensive drop off without Smart.  If he is ready to go we need him to be the Holiday stopper.  If Giannis has to handle the ball more, he will turn the ball over more.

POST GAME - PLAYOFF ROUND 2 - GAME 2 - MILWAUKEE BUCKS - HOME - Page 2 Empty Re: POST GAME - PLAYOFF ROUND 2 - GAME 2 - MILWAUKEE BUCKS - HOME

That's what I was amazed with for G2. MS was not on the floor and it was still a defensive AW. Like it was a tribute to MS but not so much of a tribute that he could miss the next game!!

I'm telling you, if this all goes the way we'd like it, the most valuable "player" is going to have to be the coach. I'm truly amazed at what he has been able to do in just this one year. Now we do have to win 2 games in a row at least, but this dude is for real.

If lockdown D is going to be Ime's calling card, Celtic fans may want to go back to the Celtics 60's or the Bulls 90's and take a long gander. Not even that. His defensive schemes take the opponents proposed game plan and vaporizes it in the first few minutes of the game. Good luck stopping that train any time soon.
