Who is the only player that............
-played for the hawks, jazz, and celtics
-averaged 24 ppg for his career
-got his number retired by a team that he never even played for
-once scored over 60 points in a game

And should you get that
Name the team that retired his jersey that he never played for?

Pet is correct HOWEVER the team is wrong.

BOB in one ways you actually are correct BUT he did play for that franchise before it moved. There is a team that HE never played for that has retired his number however.

Would the team with the retired # never played for be the New Orleans Hornets? The original NO team later moved to Utah right?

NYCelt has got it!!!

Pete Maravich/New Orleans Hornets G — Never played for the franchise. He played for the New Orleans Jazz (now the Utah Jazz) from 1974–1979.

Pistol Pete still has to be one of the most entertaining players to ever lace 'em up.

Got to see Pete in person a couple times in Buffalo.

He made one pass that I stll can't believe. Outlet pass came from Rich Kelly to the foul lne extended on the defensive end to the right side of the floor. Pete took one or two dribbles as he was about at half court, I don't know/remember who was filling the right lane but he faked it to him and then faked it to the left wing and did a whip like slap pass back to the guy on the right wing and nailed the poor bastard right side the head. I doubt there are any video's of that that exsist. Wish there were.

Still hard to believe the numbers he put up in college without the three point shot.

Over the summer we all chimed in on the thread regarding most influential players in league history, Pete was one of the three that I named, R. Barry and S. Haywood being the other 2, he was a great player!
