But the ninth one wasn't really a number. In 1948-49, some guy named Earl Shannon played five games for the Celtics as a 5' 11" guard-forward. He scored a total of five points for the Green, wearing the "UNK" as his "number."

Uncle Earl? Sounds a little on the shady side to me.

Oh, and he's not in the Hall of Fame.
