2012 NBA Free Agents

Here we list the 2012 class position by position, followed by their 2011-12 salary. Also, there is the status of the free agent (unrestricted or restricted) and whether or not their free agency is dependent on any kind of option. Players marked with an asterisk are not on rookie scale contracts (for former first-round picks) but are eligible for restricted free agency as a player with three years or less of NBA experience. Players finishing their rookie scale contracts are marked as restricted until decided otherwise and their Qualifying Offer is listed. Teams needed to officially issue that Offer by June 30, 2012, to make the player restricted.

For a more detailed explanation of restricted free agency, check out the NBA Salary Cap FAQ.

Lastly, these players are roughly sorted in value, with the presumed most desirable player at the top of each list. Players who play multiple positions are listed where they play most often.

Definition of Options

Player Option – The decision is up to the player. If he invokes the option by June 30th, he is under contract for one more season. If he does nothing, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Team Option – The decision is up to the team. If the team invokes the option by June 30th, the player is under contract for one more season. If the team does nothing, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent (if the player has three years or less of experience, the team can still then issue him a Qualifying Offer and make him restricted, but this scenario is unlikely).

Early Termination Option – Slightly different from the Player Option, but the decision is up to the player. If he invokes the option by June 30th, he becomes an unrestricted free agent. If he does nothing, he is under contract for the duration of the original deal.

Thanks for this and all the other useful info you've been posting.

After Howard and Love, the quality obviously drops off a bit. Still, I'll take Ray Allen back for the rest of his career. And a veteran backup for Rondo'd be nice: how 'bout Nash or Kidd?

Go Pats! Bob Kraft was on the tube this morn with Drew Bledsoe saying how Kraft has brought in so many former Patriot players and made them a part of the organization. It was the kind of championship attitude that reminded me of Red.

Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ray Allen would be a killer off the bench that could break teams backs when their secondary bench plays against our bench.
