Sign a contract, get paid $400k 6 weeks later without having to lace up a pair of sneakers. Nice job, if you can get it. The Celtics still have their bi-annual exception, HOWEVER, they can only use $1.8M of that $1.95M Exception due to the hard cap.

Gyso, could you please check the above statement, please?

Mark Deeks from ShamSports.com provides an update on Keyon Dooling's contract buyout:

Keyon Dooling received a $400,000 buyout from the Celtics when he retired. Jordan Williams received $420,000 from Atlanta.

That appears to cut Boston's cap charge (previously $854,839) in
half. By our count, the team will enter the season on the hook for
roughly $72.5 million in committed salary for their 15 roster players
(as well as partial guarantees to waived players like Dionte Christmas
and Jamar Smith). Boston is hard-capped at the $74.3 million tax apron
after utilizing the full value of the mid-level exception this offseason
to sign Jason Terry.

bob,

I haven't looked at any of the sites that list salaries lately. Those sites hadn't gotten all of the salaries completed when I last looked. Even with good numbers, I could only get ballpark answers. I may look at this later when I have the time.

It doesn't surprise me that we are that close.

Dang it, I just heard thunder!!
