2012-2013 Season ends
Hi,
Now we go to the Playoffs. Yes!
After that summer can get quite interesting. In that regard I have a question: what position Celtics will have in the draft this year? Also, how will the league decide who goes first Dallas or Boston? If Celtics played Pacers and lost Dallas'd be ahead in the standings. But due to the missed game Celtics are ahead. So, who's getting ahead in the draft?
Thank you very much,
AK

Sinus,
Boston will be drafting 16th.
Even if Boston and Dallas were tied, there would be no question about the draft order because Dallas is in the lottery since they did not make the playoffs.
The 14 teams that didn't make the playoffs pick 1-14 then Milwaukee, then Boston.

Drawings et draft order:
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/drawings-et-draft-order-221019470--nba.html
The NBA draft order was determined on Friday after four random drawings were held to break ties with teams that finished with identical records.
The results of the drawings were as follows:
Detroit (29-53) won a tiebreaker with Washington.
Philadelphia (34-48) won a tiebreaker with Toronto.
Houston (45-37) won a tiebreaker with Chicago and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers then won a won a tie-breaker with Chicago.
The Los Angeles Clippers (56-26) won a tiebreaker with Memphis.
Here is the order of the 2013 NBA draft, to be held June. 27. Atlanta, Utah, Minnesota and Phoenix all have two first-round picks.
The first three picks in the draft will be determined by the lottery among the 14 teams that did not reach the playoffs. The remainder of the lottery teams will select in positions 4 through 14.
First-round order (my comment: I don't believe the lottery has happened yet, so the final order, 1-14 may change.)

TJ and Gyso,
Thanks for explanation.
Just one additional question. What does it mean: A via B, e.g. to Orlando via Denver and NY?
Thanks again,
AK

sinus,
39. Minnesota (To Portland via Boston and Cleveland)
"via Boston and Cleveland" is somewhat vague, and the order of the trades could be the other way around (and I think is was).
I think this means that Minnesota's 39th pick goes to Portland. It was traded to Clevelend, then to Boston, then to Portland.
There is this:

I don't remember how it was then traded to Portland.

There is this:
Semih Erden and forward Luke Harangody to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a 2013 second round draft pick. The draft pick originally belonged to the Minnesota Timberwolves before the Cavaliers acquired it in the Sebastian Telfair and Delonte West trade earlier this season.

In the Courtney Lee trade, Boston traded (3) 2013 2nd round picks. Two of them went to Portland. Boston's own pick and the pick they had from Minnesota. Charlotte's pick that was given to Boston from OKC for the Green injury went to Houston.

Re: 2012-2013 Season ends
There are a couple of errors in this report.
OKC has Toronto's #12 pick.
Memphis has pick #56 and not 55.
The Lakers receive Memphis #56 pick from the Chris Mimh trade from years ago.
