2013 Orlando Pro Summer League schedule announced: Boston Celtics open NBA summer schedule on July 7

The Boston Celtics will open the 2013 Orlando Pro Summer League on July 7, according to a full schedule of the event released Thursday by the Orlando Magic.

The Celtics' summer entry will only play in Orlando; the franchise decided to drop out of the Las Vegas summer league after participating in both last year. Because of injuries and circumstances, it looks like Fab Melo will star for Boston's entry alongside whoever the Celtics select in June's NBA Draft.

According to the Boston Globe, neither Jared Sullinger or Avery Bradley will compete in the summer league. Sullinger is continuing rehabilitation from back surgery and hopes to be ready by training camp. Bradley has said he will be working out quite frequently, sometimes "three- and four-a-days," and will have trouble finding any training partners "because I work so hard in the offseason, honestly."

Unlike in previous years, the Orlando Summer League will crown a champion. Each team will get five games over the six days of the event. The fifth game will be held on "championship day," which will feature the top two teams facing off for first place, the next two for third place, and so on. The standings will be decided based on a points system -- teams will be awarded three points for each victory, and an additional one point for every quarter a team wins. Tied quarters will result in 0.5 points going to each team.

The nine other teams with entries in the Orlando league are the Magic, Nets, Pistons, Rockets, Pacers, Heat, Thunder, 76ers and Jazz.
