2 great games. Both teams with 62-20 (.756) records. Both teams with fantastic 2 point shooting percentages for the year. Celtics .513 and the 76ers .518.

That was one of the most heart pounding series I've ever seen.   The C's came back from a 3-1 deficit and won the last three games by something like a combined five points.

Things that still stick out in my mind from that series:

Game five with the Celtics facing elimination Bill Fitch leaves rookie Kevin McHale in to guard Dr. J in crunch time.  Rare then to put such trust in a rookie.  Unheard of now.

Game seven:  Bird makes the game winner on a bank shot from just about the same spot that Hondo made a bank shot to put Boston-PHX game five into its 3rd OT in 1976.  Weird thing was that Bird said afterwards that he had no idea why he banked it since he NEVER used the backboard from that angle.

Of such things are born legends of the Leprechaun. One of them apparently lived under the parquet floor where Hondo and Bird made their shots.
