Celtics guard Marcus Smart dislocates index, middle fingers in summer league

Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart suffered dislocations to his right index and middle fingers during Thursday's summer league game against the Portland Trail Blazers in Las Vegas.

The Celtics said Smart would undergo X-rays and would not return to the game.

Smart suffered the injury while chasing a rebound and was in obvious pain on the court.

The No. 6 pick in the 2014 draft, he had been a bright spot for Boston's summer squads in Utah and Vegas, showing improved ability to operate from the point guard position.

Smart projects as Boston's starting point guard next season.
